The balls feel floaty all of a sudden.
So I've been playing non stop williams lately, but grabbed the solo pack since it was on offer (I really don't care for franchise cross overs so they are last on my list) but I thought I would try the tables and wow, it felt like I was playing in slow motion. I thought something couldn't be right so I went back to a few williams and the balls felt fine.

So instead I went to some old tables I use to like, like wild west etc and again, balls felt really floaty and like I was in slow motion, except not quite as bad as solo (This table was awful!)

I tried everything, checking the settings, playing classic etc but nothing fixed it.

I assume the williams tables are just more realistic with their physics but I just don't remember other tables being this bad, did I just get too use to Williams, was there a recent patch? is there something else wrong somewhere else (I have changed no graphical settings, frame rate is a solid 240 etc)

Honestly, I do not like it, but it feels different to before (I've had this and Fx2 on ps4 for a long time (get the license again for PvZ please!) and while I'm not a pinball god, nor did I ever play the game for long sessions like I have recently, i just have no memory of it being so slow)

Thats the problem when you are used to the Williams physics its hard to go back. I can enjoy both as long as I dont switch between then.

No, they were always THAT bad lol, the ball was always an airball with a thin metal shell, and the control of the ball was that unrealistic, you are just used to the awesome Williams' metal ball.

It has been asked numerous times to bring the Williams ball & physics to the old tables and the advantage of this move has been discussed as well, the devs are not negative about it, on the contrary they said they would gladly do it at some point, it just

-requires a lot of rework meaning workhours and manpower,
-their priorities right now is to complete the Williams/Bally collection and support the various consoles,
-they are working on their other new IPs too,

and if done it would be on a table by table basis. So this will likely not happen in the short-mid future, they 've said though that they are thinking about integrating the new (Williams) physics to new tables.

Like you, many (including me) have stopped playing the old tables the moment Williams Vol.1 came out, which they should seriously take in account.

Oh! Well, I'm kinda glad there's nothing wrong my end but sad because wow, what a difference!

I actually just assumed they were using the same physics but the tables were flatter so the ball didn't roll as much.

I won't hold my breath for them to change it, one thing I LOVED about FX2 on the Ps4 was the 3D mode (I have a 3DTV) and it was incredible, Fx2 were one of the few that managed to get 3D right, and I googled to see if Fx3 had it and there were A LOT of people asking for it back, everyone stating how it was one of the best 3D efforts made (the TV has it's own section for 3D movies and stuff like that and while I didn't watch a great deal, out of like the 30 things I did watch only 2 actually were better than just a gimmick" and Zen did state that they would look into it, and that they'd probably add it later...but this was years ago.

There is a hack to make it work in fx3, however, nvidia stopped supporting 3Dvision and removed it from their drivers. *sigh*. I didn't play around with it much because my gpu is to old to keep up, but it worked!, except for something odd with the lighting of the ball near the flippers, which i'm sure is tweakable.

And yeah, going from williams physics to zen does feel rather a bit odd. ;)

There are 3 different physics models in use right now:
Zen originals: The ball weighs about half as much as a real pinball and the flippers are very aggressive
Williams 1-3: The ball is a proper weight, but the flippers are a little too aggressive
Williams 4-5: The ball is the proper weight, but the flippers are a little too weak

All they have to do is either offer all 3 as options for every table, or pick one somewhere in between the Williams models. As much as I like the original Zen tables, I think we can all agree that a pinball should weigh a realistic amount regardless of the table, pinballs are made of steel, not aluminum.

I'd bet money that it isn't nearly as complicated as they are making it out to be, it's probably just a matter of porting a prebuilt physics table over to the Zen originals. They wouldn't build everything from scratch every time they release a new table. It's probably just their way of saying "We don't really care enough to spend an hour or 2 implementing that".

if your playing on pc, 3d fix manager allows you to install 3d vision drivers on the current nvidia builds and it has shade fixes for the tables. Looks great.
