Why does all my food go bad overnight now?

for the last couple of weeks, my food has always gone bad when I log back in.

Before If I had a bunch of food in my inventory when I logged out most of it would still be good when I logged in. Maybe a few spoiled ones. but now it's all of the food is bad.

Did they change something, now the first thing I have to do every day is go out hunting.

I don't have a fridge and haven't been able to get any black ice since starting over.

Not sure why, but as a temporary measure you could build a thrall pot or animal feed box and put your food into that, both slow decay considerably, so they might help you until you get some black ice.

I also noticed that. Food gets spoiled really fast in both my char’s inventory and my thrall’s inventory now. Yes, I think the spoilage rate changed dramatically, there is no other explanation.

Maybe the issue where processes like decaying would happen at a much accelerated rate (previously noticed mainly with attempts at getting eggs to hatch in the compost bin) when no active player character is in render range now also applies to thrall and player inventories.
That would be my guess, anyway.

Decay used to be by stack, so ... the top item in the stack would have its decay timer tick down, but the items below it (in the stack) would be protected until such time as the ones above them had already decayed.

Sounds like they're no longer being counted as a single item for the purposes of the Decay timers.

Well, I did make both a Thrall Pot and a Feed Box.
I could see right away that the Thrall Pot doe's a better job of the two.

I put a bunch of food in it and a few hours later the were still all there. So now we'll see what happens over night.

Wait... thrall pots are fixed now? For the longest time they were bugged. This is great to know!

I think it's more than they have an automatic extension and/or delay on food decay. I don't think they currently do anything else.

Hi the verdict is in...

When I logged in today, the 50 pieces of food in my inventory were all bad, while the food in the Thrall Pot only lost 2 of 50 peaces of Steak.

I placed the Thrall pot outside the door to my personal quarters, so I'll just put all my food in it when I log out and retrieve it when I log back in.

Today I start out with 48 pieces of good food instead of nothing.
This is a big improvement!

This is an easy way to replace the Fridge for those who don't have access to Black Ice.

Build a preservation chest and nothing you put in it will spoil. And thralls won't take stuff out like they will when the thrall pot decides to work.

Fortunatelly, you can build now an ice "bucket" as a castaway. You only need some (black) ice, star metal bars and some dried planks...(And 2000something CCs.) Easily accessable resources from the start. :D

Food spoils, surprise surprise.
Make fridges once you can. Food is super easy to come by, its not a big problem to lose some.

The field leading up to the frost dungeon most of the protruding rockshae black ice nodes the rock walls around the outside of he temple also has nodes and also tons of blackice inside the dungeon to
