Even calling this "predatory" is utterly laughable, nobody is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to buy Crom Coins. It's shocking how dumb the discourse around this is.
There are lots of things I don't buy in the Bazaar, or on the Steam store, or other places, because I'm not interested in them, and/or I want to spend the money on something else that's more important to me. Self control? Free will? By Crom, what sorcery is this?
The core problem is that we live in a world where nobody wants to be responsible for their actions, everybody wants something for nothing, and if their smug ignorance doesn't work out for them, then their poor life choices must be somebody else's fault, so they'll take out their childish frustration on anybody they can reach.
We have actual predators subjecting us to their fatherless, unemployed behavior everywhere we go these days, and idiots demanding that predatory, corrupt modern governments censor and regulate our games to "protect us" from... What, exactly? Our own spending habits? The temptation to buy more waifu outfits for imaginary barbarians? Someone getting all triggered because a character in a fighting game has a nice butt? Absolute madness.
I guess this whole debate will be even funnier once global civilization collapses under the burden of its own ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and we're all playing a survival game in real life. Maybe we'd better practice tying rocks to sticks, so that we can build sandstone shelters down by the river, and fight off the hyenas...
Welcome to Clown World!
FOMO really, its how Fallout 76 gets away with it, but then again if you contacted Bethesda support, you can easily get items on the Atom shop as long as its not a SCOREBOARD item, and you have the atoms.
Has anyone tried this with FUNCOM support, at all? I wanted to, but they don't exactly have bazaar pack names on a google doc. Lol
I mean, sure, 90% of the stuff I have zero interest in, but come on. Not to mention the number of times I've seen items go through their 7 days on the bazaar, only for it to repeat for the next 7 days. They can't even cycle the store they have properly.
Then there's the new content that, according to their own notes, should have dropped to the store today. But last time I checked, none of it's there. So is it coming next cycle? Next chapter?
Now that they're not doing the battle pass, they need to start getting their house in order.
Necessary evil. We hate it, but its there for a reason. Trust me I hate it, it plays on my "I want there fore I buy"
The DLC's were way better and you got more with them for the right price. The bazaar is a joke.
Couldn't have put it better myself.
So... how and why do you consider this to be predatory?
Call of Duty Titles and Siege [as well as modern Ghost Recon Titles] and Division Titles, with their respective stores. Have equally predatory things, albeit pay to win or even cosmetics.
Frankly I've grown to accept that this is the way; even for cosmetics so we can basically pay for the game. Wish we did this boycott crap after EA popping off these loot boxes ♥♥♥♥ for 20$ for 3 boxes lol
