You can queue up a bunch of stuff such as ore in the furnaces, iron/steel reinforcements, etc whatever to be made over night and they will be done when you get back if you on a server. Single Player game can't do that.
Thralls the T4 named ones take like 25 hours to break in, on a server that time keeps running in Solo Player time only runs when the game is running.
With that being said you can of course change the server settings in solo player so thralls and crafting take less time. I have thralls set to .5 to cut time in half, I play solo player game.
Was not so long ago I shared my reasoning why I rented a server

Though, I was under the impression you play alone? Then a server would make no sense, aside from the mentioned "offline crafting" stuff like thralls. But a simple settings adjustment would do the trick for you in that regards...
P.S.: Do yourself a favour and check this

Unless you plan to create a community properly, I would not recommend you to rent a server if it was not for playing with a fixed party/friends.
You have admin powers. Thats the benefit. You can also choose who can join your server with passwords.
I exclusively host my own server on G-Portal. You can add some fantastic mods, including the delightful and detailed Savage Wilds map. You can control taming speeds, harvesting etc just so much better as some of those are an absolute grind on official servers. Play it however you want.
I would highly recommend it, as you can limit who joins your server by region - for example ONLY EU or exclude certain areas. It does help. You'll just have to keep a keen eye on people who are on the server, but I think it's the best way to play it personally.
Thank you for sharing your experience, I think after playing solo for a while I will try private PVE server. I don't care about price, money is not issue.
The whole reason for us getting a dedicated server was so she could log on when Im not on, we were playing the solo/co-op mode but I had to be online in order for her to get on. Plus in co-op mode she was always tethered to me and couldnt go to far away, and if I died it would teleport us both back to my bedroll.
We'll see how it goes once she gets on. Fingers are crossed but not holding my breath.
They're pretty much the worst hosting company for Conan..
I mean, they host officials too and those are of horrible quality so I don't get why anyone would willingly rent from them :D
Although I had a few good reports of private servers being a bit better from them, but even they always have problems with mod updates etc. always the last to get our updates.
Even if money isnt an issue I would still agree with Xevyr and recommend you shop around for hosts and consider how you want to use your server. Some hosts offer higher RAM options than others which is great for people playing with lots of larger mods (AOC, EEWA, + multiple map altering mods etc). Some just offer more standard stuff and are just fine for people playing with minimal mods etc or lower impact mods. But it def pays to shop around regardless of how you plan to play. The price differences can add up! Play around with building a server setup (just pricing it out with the various options, not actually buying it!) on various hosts and you'll see what I mean.
If you want to join me look for Hyperborea on the servers list. It's PVE only.
Just a follow up to this, friend got on and not too bad, couple lag spikes here and there but for the most part its fine. Nothing game breaking or death causing for now lol
