Beds and bedrolls. can somebody explain
Can somebody explain what is the best way to use beds and bedrolls? I've read somewhere that you can have multiple beds and you can choose on which bed you spawn when you die. Is that true?

My biggest concern in this game is that when I am far away from by base/bed if I die I will have to make a long trip to recover my stuff from my dead body. I saw some players putting bedroll in their inventory so when they are in combat and see they will die they quickly put bedroll so when they die they will spawn right near their body. Is that a good tactic or not?

A bed is a permanent re-spawn location. If you do have a permanent base, place a bed and your character can always re-spawn "at home".
If you go exploring, take one or more bedrolls with you. Place the bedroll in a close-by but safe location before starting a difficult task (e.g. a dungeon or a PVP fight where your character might die). In case your character dies you now have the option to either re-spawn at your base or close to the death location.
You do not even need to worry about picking a bedroll back up. Any bedroll you placed anywhere on the map will be automatically destroyed once you put down a new one.

One bed and one bedroll can both be active to host your respawn. Laying down another copy cancels the former. The two items are basically equivalent in function, just a different name, so you can have one of each. Dropping a bedroll before going somewhere risky is a good idea. When you die you get the option to spawn at either, or the desert.

You can only have one bed and one bedroll set as your spawnpoint. So total of two options.
The difference between them is that bed is permanent, whereas a bedroll will vanish if its activated (you respawn to it)

When you place down either a bed or bedroll, you activate that particular one as your spawnpoint.

You can ALSO activate an earlier bed or a bedroll as your spawnpoint by interacting with it, but only one bed and one bedroll can be active spawnpoints at a time. So you can build many beds, but only the one that you activate will count as your spawnpoint.

This hasn't been the case since early access. You can respawn at a bedroll as many times as needed as long as it hasn't decayed. A bedroll placed on the ground by itself will decay in a few hours, but one placed in your base will last as long as your base.

I try to place bed in a secure location where I want to spawn into often. Bedroll for random places you go where you might die. Then there's the /warp home(/sethome) command which doesn't have to be at home. Place at least one of these near a portal for further options. Home command is nice when your're taking captive thralls to wheel of pain.

Unless things have changed, previously-placed bedrolls are NOT destroyed when you place a new one, it simply updates the active bedroll spawn point.

You can walk up to the previous one and interact with it to update your active bedroll-spawn to THAT one again.

When I placed a bedroll on Saturday, I received a message saying the previous bedroll was destroyed. Admittedly, I haven't gone back to where the previous bedroll was to see if it's actually still there but destroying previous bedrolls appears to be the intended behaviour.
