"new player" questions for pve experience
Me and my bro are killing time for monster hunter wilds to come out. We just finished soul mask. He seemed kinda interested in giving this a try. I own isle of septa (spelling idc) and i know the broad strokes and just need some recommendations.

I'm not really sure how the game is structured but we are looking for a PVE progression experience. What ever the best mod combinations for that would be helpful. I know there is some progression but idk if there is much outside of getting a basic base up and running. Willing to get him isle of septah but if we can just keep to the base game.

TLDR; whats best way to get a valheim/enshrouded experience.

*probably will just do a private game but may be interested in a server if some cool reach out.

Progression in CE is not gated by killing a boss or finishing a quest like it is in Valheim and Enshourded. You can move to a new area when you feel ready although not moving from the noob area is one of the biggest mistakes you can make. Once you know what you are doing you can even run to the late game areas just starting out.

There is a good progression in the Exiled Lands as you move from area to area. Siptah is a island where resources are more evenly distributed. It does get more difficult as you move towards the center of the map and the southern islands are mid to late game areas. I recommend playing the Exiled Lands first with no mods. Until you are familiar with the base game there is no way of knowing what mods you might like.

You can play coop, but your characters are tethered together and that gets tiresome quick. Learn the basic and then think about creating or joining a server.

if you go into the settings you can change this and both be able to build/go anywhere on the map.
you just have to actually manually enter the value above the vanilla max limit
coincidentally thats what im doing too. i cant wait for wilds.

You're welcome to join on my server (Conan - Riddle of Steel). It's a PvE server and only a few days old, so there's lots of great places to build that are unused. I'm a retired Vet and literally hands off the server. I have xp and gathering set to 3x and nights cut in half, and building cost cut in half, but other than that it's the basic game. There are two other older gents that play and build on my server too. The server limit is 10 ppl at a time, so there's room to grow. I paid for a 1-year host server, so your progress is safe for at least a year. I'll on most days and willing to help you when you want help.

i don't play Multiploayer in this game, but a 2-player game should be much similar to a singleplayer-one.

I recommend to adjust admin-settings. You can adjust them to get much more XP, for example, thatn you would get with basic settings. (You - of course - can also set this, to get less XP.)

There are a lot of good mods, that are very popular.
EEWA is one of them
Paragorn-leveling is another.

But to be honest, I don't like both for a few-player or singleplayer experience. The real features of those mods are very late-game ones. (EEWA - for example - has its own magic-system. But it's so late game, that you would probably never reach it in singlplayer/fewplayer mode. Paragorn leveling is balance for a max-level of 300, which can't be realy changed. You can adjust it, however, that you have a "soft"-level-cap of your liking. But EEWA's advanced features only start after max level. I'm not realy sure, but the mod requires at least a max level of 300 afair, regardles of the set soft-cap, if you use paragorn-leveling.)

So I definitly prefer a level-mod, that set its hard-cap much lower. (I use an 80-cap. So, you have 20 addtional attribute-points avaialble. Careful, though: not all level-mods add attribute or knowledge-points after level 60, even if they have a much higher cap.)

I also find isle of siptah much easier, than exild lands. The main reason is the layout of the map. You need to go very far north to a very harsh area to get the best ressources in exiled lands. While you need just to go to the center to get those ressources at isle of siptah. Depending on where you set your base, it's much easier to rech the center of the map,at IoS than to reach the far north at exiled lands. (you will have the most difficult time to reach it, if you set your base west or east to my experience. And the easiest time, if you set north or even south. If you set north, however, you have also an easier time to reach the only frindly settlement at IoS.) You will also have an easier time to get mounts at IoS. At least horses.

Campaign-featuers, howeer, may be limited to exiled lands. I'm not realy sure about that, because I didn't play the game for some time, now. And I didn't try the current campaign-quests, yet.

But, if you want to get a similar combat-experience, that wilds will probably have, I recommend Dragons Dogma 2. This is also a game from capcom. Although it's singlplayer-only.

(I'm not realy interested in MH. I tried worlds once, and that just didn't get to me. The main reason is probably, because it doesn't have magic, but just weapons. And the design of those weapons just don't get to me. I suppose, this will also be the case for wilds, so I won't buy this game.)
