Archer thrall used as fighter (PVE)
So far I didn't really pay attention whether a thrall is Archer or Fighter - since archery seems to be pretty weak in PVE (eg during defense or when I explore the world with my thrall follower) I always equip and use my thralls for melee combat (best heavy armor and 2 handed swords).

I wonder if there is significant difference in performance between archer and fighter in melee combat, apart from the starter skills and the chance of growing str / agi (if I understand well, fighters supposed to have better STR and growth chance, while archers should have better AGI and growth chance).

BUT: if their stats more or less the same, if there any significant difference in their melee performance?

There is a hidden damage modifier. Fighter thralls have higher melee modifiers and archers get higher ranged modifiers. I think I read that in 3.0 the difference in melee and ranged modifiers is less.

The growth rate is based on what the rng gave that thrall when he was placed. The thrall's tribe dictates what the starting stat will be.

You need to look at your thrall's current STR and AGI are when deciding what weapon to give them. Two handed swords are good for Cimmerians and Nordheimers but give your Relic Hunters agility weapons like short swords and katanas.

Thx. I play siptah, but what I see, nordheimers start much weaker HP (500iash), than Stygians =they start with 2000 hp) - so they are considerable weaker by default. So I do not capture them anymore....

Would the level up stat growth compensate that initial weakness in the long run?

since 3.0 the weapons scale with different attributes.... it's written on each weapon like "strength weapon".
Archers are very viable now with melee when using "agility weapons" and your fighters can be good at midrange now too with throwing axes for example since they're "strength weapons".
Shadex Sep 18, 2022 @ 1:15pm
Example

Cimmerian Berserker
Melee Damage modifier = 1.12
Ranged Damage Modifier = 1.04

Lian
Melee Damage modifier = .98
Ranged Damage Modifier = .90

Lissa o' the Long Bow
Melee Damage modifier = .96
Ranged Damage Modifier = .96

Mandughai Hundred-Arrow
Melee Damage modifier = .96
Ranged Damage Modifier = .96

In 3.0 they really took away the difference between an archer and a fighter it seems so unless there is something in the code that no one is seeing there should be no reason not to make your high AGI Black Hands fighters into archers if you want. Or your high STR Nordheim archers into fighters, etc.

Firespark did do a video a few years back that determined there was some hidden damage modification being done with archery but as far as I know no one has ever nailed it down and it may not even be a thing in 3.0.

I did some quick tests and if you are looking for top of the line archers it looks like the generic Relic Hunter Treasure Seeker Archers from the Unnamed City are the winners.

Starting HP = 2814
Starting AGI = 20
Starting AGI Damage Bonus = 24%
Ranged Damage Multiplier = .96

This beats out Votaries which had 2 starting AGI and even the named Relic Hunters who start with only 8% AGI damage regardless of having the same starting 20 AGI.

you give your archer the type of arrows that put debuffs on your enemy, like poison and the sorts, well that's what i do atleast.

If you capture a Nordheimer Exile, you've captured an Exile, a member of the weakest tribe, Exiles live along the noob river in the Exiled Lands or the Shores of Siptah. can be any race and even the named ones start with 0 STR and 0 AGI,. The named Exiles top out at 10 VIT to start.

The Nordheimers I was talking about were the Heirs of the North. They appear on Siptah in the North summoned surge.

The Stygian Invaders on Siptah are equivalent to Relic Hunters in the Exiled Lands and are agility based.

T4 Archer with zero starting agility.
Cimmerian berserkers purge thrall. Thoughts?

Hmmm...may sound overly simple, but I'd give her a big ass sword and a lot of steak. She looks like a fighter to me.

looks more likely the type is just a name to me.
the times i'v seen archers go toe to toe with a sword "if i give em bow and swords" are redicules. i really don't think they type of thrall matters, more like the RNG stats they get, are more pointing towards what roll they play. but hey that's just me that thinks that.
