what armor do yall recommend during early to mid stages?
currently just started, playing single player and these guys hurt alot. Im gna start farming hide to make paddings but idk which armor to use, i also dont have a main weapon atm as im still trying to figure out what works for me but currently bow has been my goto. i can kite easily and damage feels on par with other melee ive tried.

Early game you'll find a few characters along the southern river that will reliably drop medium armour which is a decent starting set. Once you have a couple of levels I'd recommend travelling up to Xalthar's Refuge which is just south of the border between J7 & J8. If you can kill a few disciples of Sobek they'll drop Sobek armour, each piece of which will give you +40 HP. The Sobek armour is medium armour so won't deplete your stamina too much when fighting, offers excellent armour values and when worn as a set gives you +200 HP which early to mid game is a huge boost to your survivability.

Use advanced weapon repair kits to fix weapons you find.
If you farm weapons/hyena fur armor set from dogs or war faction you get more advanced weapon repair kits than you need to use.

Later when you farm unnamed city for shards of power you get ton of both legendary weapon and armor kits. (and legendary weapons)

Also remember to dismantle all weapons that are close to being destroyed from use (this important for hardened and star metal weapons because you get hardened and star metal bars by dismantling).

Those bars then can be used to make epic armors before you have to go frost temple and mine black ice there in order to smelt hardened steel bars.

do you know any war factions or dogs location south of the map? was looking through wiki but none of the factions lists em having advanced repair kit for loot

Dogs of desert are mostly in F,G,H and 6,7,8,9 grids in map they are not in the south river or as it commonly known as a noob river. Also they drop weapon and armor repair kits not advanced versions as i incorrectly remembered. (advanced version are dropped by skeletons in unnamed city place where you should not go until you are level 60).

I suggest you pack your things (after you have completed some of the early journeys) and move out of south to north and start to build a base there. Avoid all hyena packs and enemies and as you move north and just run like Forest Gump.

Look for place with good source of iron near rivers in the middle map and build base and start hitting lonely enemies in dogs of desert camps or go east and hit black hand pirates and start collecting stockpile of different steel weapons.

When you feel confidant start getting your first t4 fighter thrall (kill any sorcerer loot their bag for iron truncheon or couple) and when ready hit Thugra camp and knockout Thugra.

Thugra should be your first t4 fighter, after that when you have leveled Thugra and yourself start hitting summoning place and riverwatch camp for Cannibal brute and Ritualist for another 100% chance t4 fighter spawns.

This should get you really strong start and make leveling to 60 more fluid.

. (advanced version are dropped by skeletons in unnamed city place where you should not go until you are level 60).

The skeletons in the Unnamed City and outside Kael's Stronghold are about the best experience as soon as you can handle them. With a half decent thrall, that should be around level 30. Avoid the bosses in the Unnamed City till you can take them and the big dragons until a little later. The Unnamed City is about the best place to go from 50 to 60 and collect some legendary weapons.

Don't bother with the T4 exiles, Black Hand and Darfari. Go for N'Batu. He's just across the river from Thugra and has enough HP to help you capture top tier thralls. Or better yet, while the head hunter event is running, buy a combat thrall. The least of them (looking at you Varpnir) is better than any thrall you can get in the south end of the map.,

Yeah melee skellies give 9,2k exp per kill and archer skellies give 8,1k experience.
You get same experience by killing wolfs in Nordheimer region or Grey apes in near Xel-Ha in the jungle region, both giving 8,1k per kill.

However there is two notable differences between skellies vs. wolfs and Grey apes.
Skellies have sky high armor (you have to use mace or two handed hammer) and are near immune to any stagger and they love spamming that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ knockdown combo attack.
One or two is fine but when you and your thralls are stagger knockdown stamina drained by 5+ skellies non stop it is not fun.

You can even go to mounds of the dead and kill those wights there for 10k experience per kill for even better exp gain. And wights are less annoying than melee skellies.

But if you can clear whole unnamed city by killing all bosses and all the undead chaff there then it is number uno level your thrall spot.

I normally use an axe/shield against skeletons and don't seem to notice high damage mitigation. They don't hit as hard as a wolf and are not as far out of the way as grey apes. The OP is reluctant to go to Dogs country, so I doubt we could convince him to go to the North or the Jungle. Also for your basic trash mobs. skeletons drop decent loot. Even the low end skeletons by the sinkhole sometimes drop heavy padding and when you haven't made it to the savanna to get heavy hides, that can make all the difference in getting heavy armor.

i got sobek armor so i think i cna go north now? what do you recommend?
thurgond 25 sept. 2024 la 20:43
Sobek armor doesn't offer any heat or cold protection, so you should avoid the snowy areas and might even have heat problems in the Savanna.

The best way to tell if you can handle an area is to go there. Drop a bedroll when you come to a new area and see how it goes. Exploring is half the fun of the game.
