Otherwise Mace/Throwing Axe, stunlocks too and has Sunder for enemies that have any armour at all since Axe sucks vs armour, 0% armour pen on most if not all axes.
Hammer is amazing for clustered mobs like in Sepermiru, the light attack swings just hit everyone around you and does more damage than god. Heavy attacks suck on Hammer, might as well just use a Mace
Greatsword, sucks to the point of choking.
Sword is meh, fun to play with a shield. It has too many dashes and dashes are impractical for PvE, otherwise Sword/Throwing Axe is a less powerful version of mace or axe main hands.
Javelins, need to be removed, garbage.
Spears are awful for PvE. Their damage is too low for the range tradeoff, mobs that can't be staggered are annoying to deal with, and mobs that can be staggered often get knocked back out of your reach so you can't actually hit them.
It has nothing to do so much with range as it does to stack bleeds and stagger lock with sundering thrall.
Plus they handle aoe a bit better than most one-handed weapons
