Freya does normally talk. It's possible that only one will talk if you have both follow you simultaneously.
She isn't stronger than any other Thrall. She will die against the giant 20 foot tall tree-beast bosses (the ones who walk on all fours and literally look like a walking tree-dog-monkey thing) in seconds, just like every single other Thrall. I tested her extensively. The Arena Champion nearly one shots her, whilst Freya, like every single other Thrall, does do like 1% of Damage to the Champion.
Thralls in general a weaklings these days, thanks to Funcoms nerfs to Thrall HP 3 updates ago.
I just do what I do always; install Conan Exiles Unreal Editor, edit Boss Thralls so they can be knocked out, save my Mod, import it into the game, and from then on recruit boss Thralls to be fighters. Can't be arsed to play with weaklings like every single Thrall out there.
The game feels so much better if you have a Relic Hunter Boss, Arena Champion, Ladagara or a Sobek Follower. Anyone not having 7k-20k HP is just not viable as a follower.
