Can Ya'll Make Sorcery Not Suck
Or at the very least remove the corruption silliness.

At no point is sorcery worth giving up half your max HP. Every spell sucks or is so situational and slow to cast that it is entirely useless.

Sorcery is supposed to be utility focused with a large cost to it. The corruption mechanic is pretty much core to the design philosophy and feeds into more than just the spell casting, pretty much they intend you to either fully commit by corrupting your perks and summoning the demonic armour etc.

As you say the spells alone are not really worth it, but that is also kind of the point, at least from my understanding anyway, it's meant to fill a niche not give you a magic power fantasy.

I do agree though, fundamentally the casting process is too slow to be useful in combat most of the time, they really should have made some crafting "consumable" sorcery items that could quickly cast one spell like summons zombies or lightning storm etc, similar to the potions that were in the very first battle pass.

Sorcery is supposed to be a different playstlye with its own pros an cons. Thinking about it like your run of the mill fireball-shenanigans is simply wrong.

Right, but there's nothing in game that can make up for the losses incurred from corruption. And the weird time limit on demonic gear is silly too. Thralls COULD make up for certain things, but they too suck and don't help in any significant way other than new crafting recipes for other things.

Maybe they'll revisit Sorcery at some point and take a deep dive into what it potentially can do, how to improve upon its usage and implement it correctly.

Wherein did I say that I wanted to be some high-fantasy spellslinger farting fireballs and pissing lightning? I'd like you to point that out please.

For me the real power of sorcery is in the altered perks you can get from attribute points. The max corruption builds tend to be a little bit glass cannon but with the right gear you can be an absolute combat power house. I treat the actual spells as utility abilities or situational benefits.

I would say thats secondary to the actual usage of sorcery.

Even as utility or situationals, sorcery spells are still super lackluster and tedious to use.

it's not though. It is a must have for farming mats especially now that you can't farm crystals
with picks any more and not so hot for everything else.

forget sorcery , it's "balanced" for pvp and most likly will never change , conan is like kid from first marige , unwanted , so don't expect changes in bad mechanics or bug fixes , to add more salt to wound game might go back to "golden age" where it gets 5m content update once a year thanks to dune release.

You didnt say it but people tend to expect stuff like this whenever magic is mentioned in a videogame.

When I last played I was hyped for the sorceries, tried all of them and found none that I'd bother using in PvE. Some of them didn't even work as described.

I tried sorcery a while after it was released. Some of the spells were neat to look at, but were ultimately useless in every capacity aside from maybe killing your own units or damaging the lowest tier buildings.

I have yet to find a single thing about sorcery fun or interesting. and the only thing I found to be even remotely useful were the teleportation devices but they make map rooms and obelisks almost completely pointless so I don't think they should have added the teleporters to the game in the first place.

Sadly it seems Funcom is focused on ruining the game for a variety of reasons, and one of those reasons is so they can make sorcery more useful by changing some aspects of how harvesting and harvesting tools function so that you basically have to use sorcery unless you are okay with being stuck picking certain things up by hand. They're removing logical, sensible, and long-standing systems just to entice players to use sorcery more often when what they SHOULD be doing is removing sorcery because they completely messed it up and shouldn't have added in the first place. It's just like them removing the precise split option despite being told NOT to remove it by THOUSANDS of players. There have been way too many things in the past few years that they should not have done, that they should have known better than to do in the first place, that they were told not to do, and then they did it anyway and it ended up being a disaster.

I really think that Funcom should throw in the towel on sorcery, just give up on it completely and remove it because it's been a disaster. They should also remove all the other Age of X updates. They really need to stop ruining the game with silly changes and unnecessary overhauls that no one asked for as well. The best thing for them to do at this point is to admit their mistakes and roll the entire game back to pre-Age of Sorcery - and then leave it there for a while. Fix bugs but don't touch anything else for a year or so. Take that time to refocus and then start making better decisions going forward.

(Aside from the obviously useful altar stuff where I used the corpse call and teleport) They could either remove the staff or just add weaker but actually reliable spells. I don't think simply disabling everything has a purpose. They just need to get over it and stop pandering to PvP so much with the balancing decisions. Everyone has access to the same stuff.

I use Sorcery for what it's good at and ignore the rest of it.

It's good for recovering your dead body.
It's good for changing the appearance of your equipment.
It's good for making some easy and expendable fighters.

That's about it.

It's pretty good for harvesting crystal too, much faster than collecting it manually one piece at a time. Not that you really need thousands of crystal under most circumstances...
