Weird Game crashing issue

The game generally is stable unless I hit my windows key or if I use the browser in steam. It cause a complete system crash and I have to reboot my computer. Some times the crash will allow me to CTRL ALT DEL but when I select the task manager the screen goes black. I can CTRL ALT DEL again and the window to select options opens but I can only get restart/shutdown on the power selection to work.

I have uninstalled the GPU drivers and reinstalled. I do not think it is GPU related as the game is stable until I hit the windows key or do the Shift Tab in Steam. I am running 16 gig of memory and have no mods installed. I have tried lowering the graphic settings to low and still have the problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated :)

I wish I could help. I'm having a similar issue. Four crashes in a night, which is highly unusual for this game. I removed some older mods, revalidated files, and such. But I'm not sure when it became so unstable.

What window mode are yoiu running in? I had all sorts of issues running in fullscreen - try fullscreen windowed mode if you're not already using that mode.

I run in fullscreen mode exclusively and have for years, but if this works for you I may try it. Thanks.

It happens to me but you don't have to reboot your computer. Instead when the game crash, alt tab delete to pull up task manage then press right arrow key then press delete to close the game. This game crashes often and randomly and has been like that since the game came out. Could be memory leak or the server just decided to kick you out or see you "inactive" even tho you are in single player which is odd.

same here... i open the task manager and cant click anything..

I am usually able to log out of windows by clicking switch user and then log back in without restarting in case it crashes which it occasionally does.
