This sounds like a bit of a distance. How far are we talking here? More than a ten second walk?
Another one that's gotten me was having two routes into the base, one of which was a side door only accessible by climbing. The Purge got obsessed with the door it couldn't reach instead of the wide open gate and cancelled the siege.
Keep it simple. One route in. Don't get too crazy with the defenses and silly mazes. You can launch tier 1 purges with a single sprinkle of gold dust so you have little to lose if the purge reaches your treasure, and then steadily add more defenses from there, testing each time. Then when the purge refuses to show up, you know it was specifically the last thing you added instead of playing a guessing game.
If they determine they cant reach your treasure because it is too secure, the error says as much.
That being said, the way you have to face your "purge" is that you set a trap to bait them, so you are not protecting that as if it was your "life". You are giving a bait to attract the attack, which is kinda TRUE.
You dont make a convoluted high security vault if your intention is to attract raiders. You make it so they follow the path you want.
The obvious way to do that is making them funnel through one path that you prepare like what "my people" call "Polish Corridor". A single path open to the vault that works as a kill box.
If you try to make a convoluted path, your thrall losses will be higher, they will destroy more property IF they can get to it at all.
You are not playing "McDuck" there. You are attracting a raid, so you need to be raidable.
Otherwise, it would be stupid to "Proclaim Your Wealth", when you earn nothing else from it.
