Is the movie canon to the game?
Is the movie's story in Conan the Barbarian "canon" in the game? Did it actually happen?

Which movie? The Riddle of Steel DLC has statues of young Arnold and Valleria and helmets from the 1982 movie.

I believe if you're talking canon material then pretty much only the original works by R.E.Howard count, but because the movie was what launched Conan into the mainstream for a lot of the modern audience then its not surprising at all that elements were borrowed from it, the wheel of pain and the above mentioned Riddle of steel DLC are great examples.

Unless i am mistaken there is no direct reference to the events in the movie, only things from the stories. Which in my mind makes it non-canon but its pretty open to interpretation too.

Though if I'm honest, i don't really care either way.
Given how Conan speaks and what he says, I would guess not.

It's rather vague. Conan only gives very general descriptions of his past when you speak to him and doesn't mention specifics about where he's been and what he's done. I'd imagine that this was deliberate - his description of his back story could easily include most of the stories from the books but could also include the stories from the original Arnie films.
There are details about the story that were retconned for the movies. It is kinda famous all those because people didnt stopped talking about them at the time.
Pretty much the same thing about Marvel Comics and MCU these days.
The movie with Arnie is a completely different story, Conan story is different, places and people are from different places, with different backstories and different cronology.

Since you can meet Valeria in the game (she's on Siptah) , the events in the movie have not yet taken place.
You know that Valeria is not a character "of the movie" ?
She is a character from the tales, even the REH originals which was changed to the one you see in the movies, for the movies.

She was tall, full-bosomed, and large-limbed, with compact shoulders. Her whole figure reflected an unusual strength, without detracting from the femininity of her appearance. She was all woman, in spite of her bearing and her garments. The latter were incongruous, in view of her present environs. Instead of a skirt she wore short, wide-legged silk breeches, which ceased a hand's breadth short of her knees, and were upheld by a wide silken sash worn as a girdle. Flaring-topped boots of soft leather came almost to her knees, and a low-necked, wide-collared, wide-sleeved silk shirt completed her costume. On one shapely hip she wore a straight double-edged sword, and on the other a long dirk. Her unruly golden hair, cut square at her shoulders, was confined by a band of crimson satin.(Red Nails)

my ten cents the movies were entertaining, but as usual the written books and stories are far better, and ultimately the base cannon if that sort of thing means anything to you.

So the character that James Earl Jones played, was he canon? And his 2 bodyguards? And the king's daughter that Conan rescued? Subutai?

Thulsa Doom is a Howard character. He was primarily the enemy of Kull, long before Conans time. Though he did start messing with Conan in the comic book series.

Other than Valeria, the other characters were made for the movie.

My clan and myself recently did a watch party for the OG Conan film. Now, we call our Cursed Tree (from the Age of Sorcery BattlePass), the "Tree of Woe" haha! :LegendaryAxe:

In the movie they showed Thulsa Doom transform into a snake, is that canon?

Also who are his 2 bodyguards?
