NPC: Respawn Radius: Mod/Change/Edit?
Hello!

I've been loving playing SP by myself but it makes it tough to clear areas sometimes. NPCs respawn if I go just a bit too far in one direction.

Any chance there's a respawn radius value I can change?

To put around my character so that I can clear an area around me?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

i dont know the tech savvy way, but you can just drop a foundation and the npc wont spawn, also dont forget destroy it after you are done

I genuinely thought about that, but I also wasn't sure if it would even work. And if I did do that, should I just increase the land claim distance and drop one foundation block at the entrance?

In the Settings, you can change the time frame for when NPC's respawn (like setting it to take longer for that to happen). Not sure if that's helpful in your situation.

Your problem isn't the radius; it's the respawn TIME.

The game tries not to respawn dirctely next to a player, but once you move away, all NPCs that have reached their respawn-time will respawn.
The NPC respawn time can be changed in server settings.

Pretty sure it's not. I already maxed out the multiplier on the respawn timer. It's a multiplier and I went in the right direction after consulting other guides.

If I go X distance away, they respawn. Even if I'm at full rush and turn on 1 shot kills to test.

Example: If I go to the extreme edge of New Asagarth, those at the gates respawn. Even if I do it in a -very- quick time frame using cheats.

As soon as they reach the render distance/from player, they respawn.

I've also tested checking on spawns, leaving render distance, and returning, and they are now different NPCs entirely. They quite literally will spawn in with each render.

I'm open to other suggestions and ideas and appreciate the responses so far.

Noticed the same thing happening. As soon as you leave a chunk and go back everyone respawns, instantly. Didn't use to be this way before the age of war.

Remember back when I wiped out all life on the black galeon and then had to go somewhere else for about 2 hours before everyone came back to play round two.

Really could use a mod to fix that new behaviour.

Okay, glad it's not just me. I thought maybe I was going off.

I noticed this happening when I recently started playing again. I was playing on the Savage Wilds map and thought it was a feature of the map until I saw this post. It is really odd behavior that most certainly isn't intended. It is like the initial spawning code is decoupled from everything else so it always activates when you get in range to spawn things. I don't know if some mods are causing it or not.

Finally got around to researching it and it turns out that is just how Singleplayer works. I've always hosted a dedicated server to play survival up until recently so I never knew this. The solution seems to be to host a dedicated server and then things should stop respawning when unloaded.
