No More Offline Single player?
Lost my internet for a couple days last week and found i could no longer start a single player game without an internet connection. I Started the sandbox executable like i normally did in this scenario and it still wouldn't let me start a game without logging in to Funcom. Did they change something? or is this just a bug?

You need to acknowledge the error message. The Funcom Services only activate the Battle Pass and Bazaar items for use. The SP game will function normally after that.

i dont even get a launcher if i have no internet.
i'll have try again after updating to the latest hoard/raiding update
when will devs grow a braincell and learn live servaces are a bad idea, and battlepasses are even worse... more so when the game has a single player mode... lets just hope the devs dont break steam TOS by stopping them from playing single player if they are banned lmao.

After seeing your response, I tested this again this morning. With my rig disconnected from the internet, the launcher does fail to load. It took a couple of tries to get the game to start. It did take a pregnant minute for the game to start after the first two attempts. I do have Battleye enabled and that did generate some error messages. Once the game loaded to the menu, I did have to acknowledge the error message from Funcom Services.

i tested it just now with my internet disabled. it skipped the launcher and loaded just fine.
thanks for the infos,
it looks like easy anti cheat is installed (but disabled in services, from a different game), but battle eye doesnt seem to be installed, that could be it)
Without Internet: If you start Conan directly with ConanSandbox.exe (ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64 directory), the game starts, but you can neither load a game nor start a new game. So it can no longer be played offline.

this is not entirely true.

setting steam to offline mode effectively disables online for conan exiles.

rather than the launcher being skipped if you disconnect the internat (which could be the reason why you cant load or start a new game), the launcher loads as usual and loading the game through the launcher works as usual.

you will get the same cant log in error but the game will load your save and you can make a new game. when you click the battle pass and bazaar tabs, they will give you the same error that they cant be used in offline mode.

conan exiles has an offline mode.

Edit: seems like funcom needs to create an offline mode for their launcher.

You can play offline single player, the logon is just to verify ownership, anti-piracy
I played completely disconnected from the net yesterday when my wifi was down. I did notice however that the game doesnt pause anymore, its like dark souls now, you pause but can still be killed and things continue to move around and such as if you hadnt paused
It should not affect your ability to play the game in single player what so ever.

Though if you have bought anything in the Bazzar, earned anything in the battlepass (even freebies) or unlocked anything via Twitch drops, playing the game in offline mode will remove your access to those items until you reconnect to the Funcom Live Service.

That's because those items are tied to your online Funcom account, they're not part of your actual game files or steam account.
Which certainly begs a lot of questions regarding what will happen to those items in the inevitable future when Funcom terminates this online service for Conan Exiles..

Either they'll make it so the items become part of the actual game in some way so players won't loose them or... well they'll just be gone forever and tough **** for all those who bought/unlocked them over the years.

Too big a gamble for me personally, which is why I'll never support the shop or the battlepass.

I wrote "without internet". Steam offline mode is different than when you don't have internet access. The launcher will not start without internet access (BattleEye Error) - even if Steam is in offline mode.
Only Steam offline mode, but with an internet connection the launcher starts and also the game in single player.
I have a way to ask Funcom, so I did. I reported what I saw here and what I was seeing. They tested it.

When you start the game without any internet the following will happen.
  1. Steam will show the game has started.
  2. The Funcom launcher will briefly show up and then disappear. Steam will show the game as running.
  3. Battleye will error out, showing it cannot connect. Steam will no longer show the game as running and display the play button.
  4. After a pregnant minute, the game will load. An error message that Funcom Live services are not available will pop up. Ok past the error message and you can play the game offline without any internet. Battle Pass and Bazaar items will not be available for use.

As stated previously, you can start the game from the executable when you do not have any internet.
If they were finished with development, and it was patched and polished, yes. Until then, I wouldn't advise it. These developers are not known for polished content on day 1 of release (of anything).
I play exclusively by myself, and this perma-online crap seeping into the industry is annoying and unnecessary. Why is this even a thing? What's even the point, other than just forcing the cash shop in my face?
I just tested to see you can play the game offline by disabling the wifi and start the game through steam:
first BattleEye install prompt pop up then after that game start as normal.
The game load to the menu, it said "can't connect"
After closing the message, the game work like normal. I don't have access to the Multiplayer or the Bazaar and Battle pass but I can still start the single player game.
I even tested to see if the .exe method work and same result.
