Yeah that's true.
But the items themselves exist in the game right?
So they must be in the game files somewhere.. at the very least the models/skins or something that allows our Pc's to recognise those items in the game, whether we personally have them unlocked or not.
Someone with enough skill could surely figure out how to access that stuff, recreate the items in a mod or something eventually if they wanted to.
I'd find it hard to accept it being impossible.. even if the preventative measures were insanely good there's always a way to get around it.
Plenty of times that's been proven in the past with all sorts of stuff.
In all honesty I think that's actually a huge positive for a microtransaction system.
I don't buy the pass myself and i'm generally on the "nope i'm out side" when it comes to microtransactions in any game, but when you get options like that it's not so easy to outright crap on it.
There's not many games that have microtransactions that I'd defend as somewhat/fair but Conan Exiles Is probably one of them.
Plus they occasionally give us some decent freebies as well and that's much appreciated.
Got those nifty Wolf skins today in fact, and I quite enjoy the free Ore container we got earlier.
But be aware if you don't finish your battle pass the locked coins u didn't earn before the pass ends also disappear. Lost some of mine that way and gotta rebuy the pass again.
The whole pass thing is a real hassle for those bz with real life.
Good to know ty
And yes absolutely , thats a real pblm, i love the game but i will never be able to spend all my available gaming time to unlock the 60 levels.
I would love too but its complicated with work/family/sociallife/other games you may want to play.
So at least they should do a rotation system where the previous seasons items comes back to be able to unlock them again or a way for those too busy IRL to insta buy them.
Unlocking the entire battlepass isn't that hard, and should be easily done in the 3 month span for even the most casual gamer. Even in the absolute worst case, and all your challenge XP multiplies are on Common challenges (worth 30 XP, or 300 with the multiplier). With 5 of them, hats a level and a half every day. And even if you can't play every day, the multipliers save up for a few days as well. Thats only 40 days (of less than a half hour per day) to unlock the whole thing. Or at most a couple of hours once per week.
Of course, you won't only get the Common challenges. A Legendary challenge, with the multiplier, is worth a level and a half by itself.
As for a rotation system, I have no doubt that battlepass items will appear again, likely in the store itself. People will want to buy them, and no company in their right mind would totally pass up that source of profit. It might take a while before that starts happening, however.
That's the biggest reason I don't buy into it tbh.
I know somewhere down the road i'd end up feeling forced to play and grind out the pass if I did and ultimately that will hurt my fondness for the game eventually and likely make me quit playing it.
I usually have the Battle pass completed within ten days. I am fully disabled, so that makes it easy for me. The only bad thing about it, once it is completed I tend to stop playing CE for a time only checking the bazaar to see if there is anything I want.
Wish they used some other metric to measure player activity, like the purge meter itself is miles ahead of a kill 10x crocodile or gather 10x plant just to show the battle pass you're active and deserve xp / progress in the pass.
Yeah the forced grind pretty much made me quit the pass, felt like you were paying your employer to be an unpaid intern.
Yes forcing the grind is a big mistake in a game like Conan where most of us are here for the freedom.
I want to play to create my own story and adventure, not to farm xp and go to specific places i dont specially want to go because it is required to earn a specific level to get a specific cosmetic.
I play video game to chill when i come home from work, i dont want to grind again after a day of grinding in real life....
Just give us paid dlc and everybodys happy , the people that dont want to spend 1 dollar will grind and the others will have good fun playing the way they want and still have an option to get them if they want to.
Like steventirey said the rotation of previous cosmetics or them coming as DLC will probably happens at some point but in the meantime its just very bad.
yup, and unlike survival mechanics, this is totally unimmersive. They even missed the opportunity to create group activities for those that play with friends.
If it makes you feel any better, I learnt how to scam in season 1, but in season 2 I let my money drain away after I got the pass early with season1 coins.
I began questioning the entire point of my actions, some will say oh it's less than 10 hours grind. 10 hours is precious time lost that you could have spent enjoying every moment in a new game.
What they should have done is create immersive content, like intercept a convoy of NPCs with random paths, hunt a rare animal by tracking it across the map (could even add sorcery spells for this).
Stuff that will make the map dynamic / feel alive..... alot of us play for novelty, there r just too many games out there that will fill that need better if their goal for a pass is to retain players.
So the pass did 2 things badly:
1. bad activity measurement system
2. no new activity / no novelty
I came back to play conan a few weeks ago to play with some friends on PVP servers , in a couple of weeks without trying much i was max lvl on the BP by just doing the x10 exp on Epic or legendary missions.
In a PVE aspect well i can see why people don't like it but 10 mins before you join that server to play PVE you can just go in the single player where you have your 1k dmg weapon ready and benches to craft w/e you need for the Epic or Legendary quests , if you don't feel like doing it that day its fine they just add up on how many x10 exp you have (i believe its maximum of 20) . Another thing the quests are repetitive so if you done it once you will know what to do the 2nd time.
And hey if you don't like doing all of that and you think the BP was not worth it at least do it till lvl 60 and think it this way you gave it a try , you didn't like it but you have 1200 Croms to use in BAZAR or keep the 1200 Croms till a BP comes that you really like the cosmetics of.
Yea the fact you can't get the previous BPs is a irritating cause i missed on a few things i liked but i still think they did a decent job
Either way, I'm excited to get the next one and I just built a dedicated arena...so I guess that speaks for itself.
Concerning OP's query, I guess I missed out on those cool, special stormglass pieces!
