Also, make sure that particular journey is active at the time. Again, I've noticed some seem to give credit anyway, like craft a legendary weapon, but others simply won't progress unless it's active.
- I put all the crafting mats into the bench, one by one;
- I crafted the iron pick;
- I took the iron pick out of the bench.
Journey step still wasn't complete.
I have checked other journey requiring crafting items, they did not seem to be affected by this bug.
And yes, not only does the journey have to be active in order for you progress through it, you also need to follow them step by step, even if it means crafting new workbenches or gathering mats anew. I have done all of those, in this case.
If so... you might be interested to know that I actually make mods... as such I know exactly why and how certain mods can break certain journey steps...
I can also see it in the source code that the journey step you are trying to complete merely requires you to pick up ANY iron tool, be it a sickle or cleaver etc. so if it's not triggering, then clearly something is interfering with it... hence why I was asking about your mods.... so find out which one...
I also happened to have made a mod that can just complete it for you to be able to get past that stage, but I was hoping to save that as a last resort before suggesting it, because it's better to find out which mod is interfering with it, especially since there's a chance that will cause you other issues as well.
Good luck...

And you seem to be having a temper tantrum about it on the forums...
I was trying to help. but you seem to be overly stuck up about it to realize that... and no, you don't have to install that, there are some mods however that you can't just "remove" without consequences and until their authors update them to support the new journey system, something like this mod is a viable solution to get past portions where people get stuck... use it.. don't use it... up to you...
It would definitely be better if you put in the effort and figured out which of your mods is causing this instead of ranting about how the "game is bad" on the forums...
But hey... you could always keep being defensive and argue with people on the internet who are trying to help... that will definitely solve your journey problem....
