sapertooth, cats in general, are among the better pets iirc
Will test a couple other pets, but so far only the greater shaleback was a disappointment compared to the previous age. And hyenas maybe too; i remember reading that they still get stuck.
Now they are real treasures with 3 or 4 thousand health, and one that I just finished training to 20 has just under 1.200 armour wearing the exact same armour as my character.
My character with the same armour has just over 700 and 176 health.
I also have to slow down my combat, because just a few hits drop my stamina to 0.
Stamina does recover much faster though, so if I space out my strikes, I can keep my stamina up, but it greatly changes my timing in combat.
The stam regen definitely negates any cons they did with the stamina system.
The first time I got into combat she died even with the almost 1.200 armor.
I've never had a level 20 thrall get killed before, so I'm going to have to be more careful from now on.
I went to the strange tower and my thrall picked a fight with the guards, I should have set him on don't attack anything.
My character got killed too, and recovering my body didn't work, even though I tried 3 times
and logged out in between so apparently everything useful about Sorcery is no longer working.
So I had to make a whole new set of armor, then make a whole new set of armor that looked the way I want, and go through the process to combine them.
All this just trying to get an arm!
The last hotfix contained a change pretty much hidden among the notes- pet type followers have greatly increased hp multipliers now. With an authority build my leveled Frost Giants now have 10k+, even 14k+ HP, along with around 1300 armour, and thy don't get staggered, altough a bit slow with their attack anims.
Against bosses I like to use these Giants and my Sand Reaper Queen too- has around 7k HP now, 1700 armour and applies 10 stack of poison with her spit-attack (able to apply 20-30 stacks at a time), used her to kill the Arena Champion, with a lvl 20 Berserker helping (Berserker almost died at the end, while the Queen had half her hp left)
Alternatively you can give tier 1 exiles medium or heavy armor and they will survive encounters against crocs, shaleback, and tier 1 humans. Things die rather quickly. But if they get surrounded they can get stun locked and never able to attack and die rather quickly. So its important to be a part of the battle as much as your thrall is. Its a team effort.
Obviously the farther you are from the exile lands the better the thralls will be from 1-3. at least in starting health.
