Report a translation problem
I was worried about this change negating the need for torches, but it hasn't. Sometimes I can go with out a torch when I previously would have used one.
I'm not experiencing the "shroud of darkness" you are.
Even still as I indicated in the OP I can presently see things in the distance fine. It's like there's a darkness between me and anything in the distance centered around just outside of my character's light bubble. It's fine if other's aren't experiencing it. I'll run some tests and look into it a bit more.
I built my new base just a few feet to the East of one, completely by accident.
Any time I leave my house on the west side it's light in a small area, the size of a 50" square.
