Report a translation problem
I am playing in an official server, not offline.
It seems to be a problem only to me.... seems better to report. Thanks
The mistake you're making here is using your own experiences and assuming the norm from that. Yet if the Bazaar and Battlepass were really so unpopular as to be ignored by most of the player base then it would be making no money at all, meaning Funcom would get rid of it. It's very existence is a testament to the fact that it is drawing in enough money to keep Funcom investing in it.
The idea that if we all just take a stand or whatever against predatory business practices that this will force businesses to correct themselves is very naive. "Vote with your wallet", "the invisible hand", etc. that's all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The market does not bow to the whims of consumers unless that particular market is small. Consumers ruined Atari in the 80s because the gaming industry was smaller back then. It was niche, primarily aimed at children. That kind of stuff doesn't happen today. It's the companies who *don't* engage in predatory practices that end up going under and being bought out by the companies that *do* engage in them. Funcom, like all game devs, is trying to survive in a dog-eat-dog industry; which means either customers get the shaft or the company does.
This is the reality of modern gaming - and really the entire entertainment industry from movies to comic books and so on. Even if you get enough people on board to boycott the Bazaar/Battlepass until Funcom starts losing money they're not going to do a 180 and go back to DLC. They're going to write off CE as no longer profitable, shut down the servers and move on to their next venture. They have investors to please and they take priority. Everything else is always secondary. This is the basic operation of all corporations - Funcom included.
Welcome to Capitalism.
It is troublesome to exchange the email of the report, so I will share it here. Share an incident.
Several reasons come to mind:
Consolidation in the game industry
Companies all use the same monetization consultant
A harried programmer is told she has two weeks to create a store and copies the first one she finds
Developers are sheep who want to copy who want to be like the cool companies
Fear of missing out isn't the big motivator game companies think it is. Otherwise, more adds would feature "limited time offers" and more commercials would include the phrase "if you call in the next ten minutes."
If making it easy to buy what you want when you want it want wasn't a good strategy, Wal-Mart would be open 10-2 on alternative Tuesdays and Amazon would have a Buy in Ten Clicks button.
