How to survive the first part of the game?
I played for maybe 5 or 10 minutes and feel like there's a learning curve to this game that will take a bit longer to learn. I'm hoping someone can give me tips on how to survive the first 5 or 10 hours of gameplay to advance. I keep getting killed in the game . I just found out I can make tools, but those don't work as weapons. I tried using it as a weapon but it didn't work. I found there's food in some places, and there seems to be a big desert.
Please teach me.

advance to the river. it is north of the starting locations. gather fiber by using 'e' on bushes, and pick up branches off the ground, and rocks. run there. do not stop. you need to drink the water there to survive. the desert will kill you. if you aggro a billion things, just run and swim for awhile till they leash back to wherever they started.

go into tab menu, and 'knowledge' and learn a basic weapon. sword/mace/hammer, etc. (i prefer hammer.)

now when attacking targets, you can only fight the little imps, or the small turtle beasts, (not the big brown ones). stop attacking when your stamina is half way, and just circle the target. if it gets the better of you, go swimming to escape. pick up grubs and eat insects to gain some small health back till you can make your first kill

dodging eats your stamina, dont do that unless you really need to. figure out which weapon suits you best. dont finish a full combo, stay light on your feet, one or two strikes at a time.

if you see a silver shine in the enemy's eyes, it is a deadly corrupted beast, and will probably kill you in one shot. avoid those.

fashion a set of stone tools and use those to gather from that point on.

use plant fiber to make twine after you make a set of clothing, you're going to need a lot of it, and its light weight.

from this point, learn basic masonry, and basic survival skills (firepit/forging/etc) and start to build a base out of whatever crap is scattered around. use that to store materials and rank up to fight larger opponents, and capture strong thralls to use for further advancing your territory.

if you're losing to the hyenas (cause there are PILES of them) you need a weapon that can hit multiple opponents, like greatsword or hammer, and you have to be good with your combos. be careful because corrupt hyenas can mix into regular packs and really kill the crap out of you. use bows if you have to, to thin them out before engaging melee.

Hi
I just wanted to reiterate don't stand there and fight it out with everything.

You can run faster than pretty much anything in the game. When I started a new character after my server went under, I didn't die for the first week. I just took off and ran when attacked. Don't wait until your stamina is at zero before you run!

Eat the eggs from the nests, insects, and whatever is easy to get.

On the first day, you need to make a complete set of tools, a Stone Ax, Sword, Pick, and Sickle, a complete set of clothes, and foremost a water bottle, it wouldn't hurt to make two.

But above all, only attack things that you can kill easily.

Most things won't follow you into the water so I stay near the river for a while, if something big comes after you run for the river.

As soon as you have your tools and make a construction hammer and make a small temporary shelter.

And note that most things aren't good climbers. You can make a small block of stone foundations and stand on it and nothing can get to you. When you get a bow you can attack from a raised positron.

Then just work your way up the food chain.

But above all remember it's better to run and try aging than keep getting killed over and over so watch your health bar and keep collecting those eggs, and bugs.

Oh, and as soon as possible make a mat and place it in a safe place so that if you do die it doesn't set you back out in the desert again.

Tools are for gathering, weapons are for slaying. Learn what tools are best for gathering which mats, and which weapons you like.

Make your way to the north side of the river and build a small hut with a fire, box and bed. Go exploring to find a good spot for a real base. Put a mat down when you reach a new area so you won't have a long run to when you die. Look a centrally located spot near water and lots of iron.

HP is important. Put 5 points into vitality so your hp will regenerate with out eating. Make aloe potions and healing wraps.

The twin knives cause bleeding so you can hit an enemy and back flip away and let them bleed.

You can also run into the water then run out and hit them again until you level up some.

You can make the stone ones in inventory, then iron you need the smith bench after melting the iron in the forge.

Hit tab, open your knowledge tab, and learn recipes for weapons. Avoid everything like the plague until you have armor, sticking to imps and hyenas to level via combat. Build things, like a base and workstations to also gain EXP.

I would advise to watch something like a beginner guide to the game anywhere and if you have specific questions come back here.

It will teach you the basics way better than asking a lot of questions you don't even know yet you have.

Im a noob too and I didnt even know that much about the game before I started playing it.
I tried to be cautious - so only fought things when I needed to, gathered stone/branches/planet fibre etc and built the starting crafting gear.
Actually I just tried to follow the Journey things that appear in the top right. When it said "sleep in a bed" I figured I should try to start making a base (you have to spend your points in the "Knowledge" tab for that (among other useful things).

And... the spot I chose for my base is where I still am, although I have ventured out further and made a start on a second base near the jungle.

Im guessing most people choose the same spot I did - it's a little island nearby the 2 statues.

Oh - 2 things that really saved me:

1) Things dont follow you into the water
2) Things dont climb up after you

This game has a sharply reversed difficulty curve. Survival becomes a laugh once you know what you're doing, even starting over as a level 1. It may not seem like it now, but this part of the game where it's an anxiety-inducing mystery is the best part. Just be assured that it does get much easier if you stick with it, and try to resist the temptation to spoil yourself by looking up answers or accepting help from other players. It's supposed to be brutal as you're starting out as a soft, civilized exile without survival skills, otherwise it will never be brutal.

Everyone has a different way, but, basic tools should already be unlocked get a basic base up and running put a bed down make a camp fire cook some food then unlock the weapons and explore as explore you'll gain lvl's for poi's make some temp bed rolls put one down every so often use them to re-spawn if you die to get back to you're body quicker try head northwest to seprmaru town where you grow to love early game for thralls while there climb and explore every nook and cranny there's treasure all over it in boxes, the shrine part look on the floor there's emotes all over granted they won't help you survive but at least you'll be able to shrug and go again.

As a beginner player in Conan Exiles, I would advise crafting a shield to defend against archers, who tend to pose the most significant threat. The game's combat system is relatively straightforward, with the ability to target enemies using the Q key and moving in a circular motion to dodge their attacks. To maximize your survival, it's crucial to gather resources and focus on building a secure base, gradually upgrading your equipment as you gain experience.

Keep in mind that Conan Exiles is not a game to be rushed through. Take your time and appreciate the beauty of the world as you build and progress through the game. By prioritizing survival and gradually increasing your proficiency, you can fully immerse yourself in the rich and intricate world of Conan Exiles.

Generally a good tip: Rocknoses are surprisingly weak to blunt weapons, and make for good xp as long as you don't get a corrupted one. This is handy for levelling early thralls, although I personally find the undead dogs by the pit much better.

Tip 2: Don't limit yourself to one location if you're playing single player/coop w/ friends (which I generally recommend). Areas rich with necessary resources such as iron tend to not be terribly close to one another, so at least build yourself a small network of outposts where you can shelter for a storm.

Tip 3: The game is designed around multiple people consistently working together. There's no real shame in modifying the server settings to be more single-player friendly, such as increasing resource yields, reducing crafting costs, or your own tankiness. Tune the game to your level and work your way back up to stock-standard once you have a better feel for things.

Tip 4: A lot of areas are difficult to navigate due to cliffs, so it can be worthwhile to invest in building your own shortcuts using elevators or bridges to avoid long detours.

Tip 5: Crafting workbenches work on their own. It's a VERY good idea to have several smelters and blacksmiths operating simultaneously to crank out all those stupid 'nails' you need for higher tier buildings.

Tip 6: Remember, you serve your slaves, not the other way around. Always invest in the highest tier of tools you can, and tame a pack animal to tow your resource hauls back to base.

Tip 7: Archer thralls are crap and achieve nothing. They get free ammo, and their damage is proportional to the cost (aka, none). Always be taming animals/thralls. At first, anyone will do, but once you've got some workers and guards, start thinking about bagging named thralls. Then start being racist and realize the south river thralls have trash stats and start capturing guys from as far north as your named thrall can KO, even if they are tier 1.

Tip 8: Don't underestimate what you can kill with a stone two-handed sword.
