Will I enjoy this game without DLCs?
Hello! I'm a Valheim player, as well as someone who enjoys the survival-crafting and open world genre so I think I might enjoy this game. The only thing that's holding me back is that this game has a steep entry price when you consider the DLCs..

I'm wondering if this game is still enjoyable without them? I know some games that are good without DLCs (I heard the recent AC series are good without DLCs), as well as some where DLCs are basically a requirement (like MHW.. the game is nothing without Iceborne).

Bro, I've just checked.. seems like these are only a bunch of cosmetics from some movie.. ☹ I'll try to watch the movie though.

Problem I had with that DLC on PS4 was it would FILL up my crafting page making the already page a bigger mess, wishing I could turn it off or something like there is 30 items in that dlc that are just status and chop chop stuff.

And yes you can enjoy the game fully no DLC but there is a DLC expansion as well that offers more than cosmetics

Is a whole new map though so I wouldnt buy it right away

all the gear has stat boosters, based on how you build you player, it can be helpful plus conan is mostly based on the movie form the 80's it's a good movie to

also it adds building bits as well

That recommendation is a bit interesting :D
While it can be "fanboyish" I guess, It's probably the worst one in terms of gameplay benefits so if somebody was interested in the game itself and wanted only 1 DLC, this one would be on the bottom of my recommendation list :) Basically it's a few helmets (that may or may not seem ugly to you) and a bunch of statues..

As for OP, ALL DLCs are just cosmetic.. the Isle of Siptah adds a new map which has its own mechanics and some armor / weapons with better stats than what you can get on Exiled Lands, however those are accessible only on that map (there used to be server transfers where people smuggled them across, but they are disabled now).
Edit: So as a clarification in case it wasn't clear.. the Isle of Siptah expansion is a standalone map.. it does NOT expand the current Exiled Lands map, instead you have to start a completely new game on that map to play it

As an answer to your question though, yes, ofc you can play the basegame without any DLCs and pretty much have the full experience since those are just decorations and cosmetically different variants of existing basegame armor / weapons / building sets

You def do not need Dlc's but I do agree get the riddle of steel, it's not just statues you get the Atlantean throne and the Thulsa doom theme stuff is epic although i don't think they fixed the snake fountain to drink from it yet!

Yes.. it is epic for conan movie fans :D That was my whole point.
It is next to useless to your average gamer who wants to play a survival rpg. Meaning that most of the items are very niche decorations. Other DLCs add several armor sets, saddles, building sets etc, so way more functional items.

Not trying to take away from the DLC btw, I myself own all of them, I am just trying to be objective about it from a gameplay point of view, so we don't mislead OP who might not care for the Conan movie at all and is just looking to play a game :)
Hi guys, it's hard to reply to all of the messages, but I've read everything so far and I appreciate you guys filling me in.

-- especially this. A very important detail. So it's not an expansion but a standalone ✍🏻

That aside, I just need to figure out where to watch such old movies *cough* 🏴‍☠️🦜I prolly have no choice at this point since it's an old movie. I mean it's just so that I'll know this Conan Barbarian lore. Hmm.

Meh. The game has been garbage since 3.0. The mods make it fun to build but the game barely runs now. The BP is ♥♥♥♥. The new $$$ is extortion. ITs not worth buying now no.

I'm a long time fan of the movies and stuff and I only ever bought the base game. You can find most of what you need in the workshop for free mate. I'd only buy the DLC's if you want the specific items or the map that they have. Hope this helps some and good luck mate.:steamhappy:

the game is great with mods, you dont need to have any dlc,s to have fun, just find a nice mods and use them, the problem is that.. the game update brake mods very often, thats bad thing.

You dont need the dlc its an awesome game. Just stay away from pvp. PVP full of exploiters and cheaters to ruin your game.
