how do you pick up baby animals?

I heard to tame animals you need to like catch baby ones. How do i do that though?

The same way you pick up anything--put your mouse cursor over the baby and press your use key.

Catching animal babies is actually one of the rare occasions where target lock is useful in my opinion.
Move close to the baby, look at it and enable target lock (default Q), then walk (or run) behind the baby and spam E until you catch the baby.

You may have to spam it a *LOT* because sometimes it's so glitchy that it's practically completely broken.

Sometimes you wanna adjust your angle of attack upwards rather than directly at the little critter... like eye-level, even tho he's right in front of you.
