Can't make hardened leather at precision tannery?
I thought when you built an improved workstation you could make any of the entry level items plus the additional higher tier items. Am I missing something here or can you not make hardened leather at a precision tannery and have to use a regular tanner's table?

I have a named thrall at my precision tannery and it doesn't have the recipe for hardened leather. In fact, the precision tannery doesn't have any recipes at all.

You need a Tanners table, tannery just turns hides into leather which is why there are no recipes.
marcusaddamsson 21 AGO 2022 a las 1:46 p. m.
Yea, you need the tanner's table. But once you do... the next thing you wanna do is make sure you have t3+ alchemist. You'll need oooodles of oil and squishing fish doesn't cut it, IMHO. But a t3+ alchemist in an alchemist bench can combine bark and ichor to make oil.

What is the point of the precision tannery? Does it give you more leather per hide?

The wiki says: A tannery and process designed to lower the cost of tanned items.

Then it doesn't say anything about leather yield.

Precision Tannery[conanexiles.fandom.com]

It doesn't increase leather yield. According to the table, it increases the crafting speed of leather (+360%), but causes fuel to burn quicker (reduces fuel burn time by 78%). However, the crafting speed to so much quicker you save fuel:

The increased fuel cost and increased speed result in the Precision Tannery using only 35.6% of as much fuel to complete one crafting recipe as it would take another Tannery.

So the point is it crafts faster, and ultimately uses less fuel to do so. As opposed to the plant-based tannery, which is more fuel efficient but has the normal crafting speed.

So when the wiki says it lowers the cost of tanned items it is completely wrong.

No, its right. It uses less fuel than a normal tannery would to do a single item, so its saving you some of the fuel cost.

Lowered the cost of tanned items should mean less resources to make an item. The only fuel cost here is bark. It should say less fuel cost. If I remember correctly the wiki says the fuel cost is increased but the faster crafting time effectively lowers the fuel cost.

That may be so, but they did have a point as there isn't ANY type of tannery that can produce hardened leather, they are completely different crafting stations, a precision tannery is NOT an upgraded tanner's table.
So this would be the equivalent of wanting to craft swords at an improved carpenter station (or more like a smelting forge to be even more exact with the metaphor) instead of the blacksmith, just that in this case their names are similar as they have "tanner" in it, but that's about it.
As such their post WAS helpful as it directed you to the correct crafting station to craft hardened leather at, the tanner's table is the ONLY one that can craft it, there is no upgraded version for it, you need to have the table and unlock the Exile Epics perk at 60 to craft it.
Other than that idk what's with the tension on both sides :))

One turns hide into leather, the other makes hardened leather. I think it can obviously be confusing. I ask a question and get ♥♥♥♥ on. Whatever.
