Human sacrifice crossing a line
I think a line is crossed here. Murderig people by sacrifice, by slitting their throats, to gain gameplay benefits, this doesn't comfort me at all. You could say, sure, it's just optional, but to progress gameplay-wise, it is basically mandatory. You could say, it's just a game, but it's a role-playing game, and that is what it's all about, to immerse yourself in the game. You could say, well in this game, it's all about killing stuff. But until now, it was for "survival", in self-defense, to hunt animals for food etc.

But fetching people to murder them in a brutal way, this is another level.

Maybe I'm too old for this ♥♥♥♥, maybe I'm not aware that all those assassin-games are around for years, where you kill unarmed people without blinking an eye, yea I didn't play all of those.

It's a question of morale, maybe even a philosophical question. Probably I'm taking this stuff too serious. But if this is an RPG, and I want to immerse in it, then I have to identify with what I am doing.

And this mechanic really disgusts me.

It's very obvious you absolutly know nothing about the brutal world of Conan - The Barbarian, which this game is based off.
We even got a very light version of the actual brutality of this universe.

If you can't stand the current brutallity, then this game or even the Conan universe is for you and you should maybe head over to any other themepark game like ESO or most other sandbox building games with survival elements.
Have fun running around with your slave warrior and killing sorcerers, then.

you see the same or worse in tv/film. granted violence/horror has become more acceptable today then 30 years ago ..but at the end of the day its a 18+ rated game, they can do what they want.

Me, on the other hand, think it could be notched up a bit, different sacrificing stones and different animations on each, imho crucifixion as in the first cutscene and impalement should be a thing as well, I don't even plan on using sorcery much, but will still have a dark cube to sacrifice people just for the sake of it

I'm still missing being able to have prisoners chained to a pole or a wall and throw in a couple tigers to eat them alive... I mean I spent like 3 hours yesterday building a colisseum just to have stuff kill each other in there.

To each their own I guess, but I have not advanced much since the update so I don't know how mandatory sorcery is or if you can simply ignore it entirely

You already had to sacrifice a thrall in the base game to get into the first boss dungeon...

But again morals are tricky things, as we each have our own moral code.

Then don't use magic, it's as simple as that. Magic in Conan has always been this way. You would just roleplay as someone who despises magic like Conan. You clearly don't agree with sacrifice in exchange for otherworldly powers, so just don't sacrifice. That's how you please these gods in this universe. You won't get their powers from starting an orphanage, they demand blood.

Well now I want to start an orphanage in game...

Not good content for little Timmy to play, no.

Go play hello kitty then, Conan aint the game for you.

I bet you're 100% ok with beating women unconscious, dragging them away, and forcing them to dance nude or in revealing clothes. But you draw the line at sacrifice.
LOL

A line was crossed with the overpriced BP, not with murdering NPC by slitting their virtual throats.

I don't think it is the brutality of the sacrifice that bothers me so much, but the amount of times you have to do it that threatens to desensitize you to it.

According to the Conan lore it should be terrible and brutal and inhumane, but you shouldn't have to do it 100 times.

It's a brutal game, I feed my pet hyenas human which is pretty awful to do also. They where yog worshippers but that still don't make it right, just slightly ironic.
