Vertical elevator placement

Anyone else having trouble placing vertical (or perhaps horizontal?) elevators? I'm trying to put one down in my base like I always have, but it won't snap to anything. It just stays grey/ghostly and won't attach. Says "unable to find valid end location" everywhere I try to put it. Never had this problem in the past.

Same here.
I found out that I can place an elevator if I build a minimum of 8 foundations high
you can add a landing place any ware below the 8 foundations and the elevator can be placed but not below the 8 foundations.
It is indeed very annoying
dont know if this is intended sins it was never a problem

Can confirm the same; I am unable to place a vertical elevator in any situation without a minimum of 8 foundations in height from top to bottom. That's really irritating, as I don't want to have to build a large twisting stairway to go up a small cliff...

This is new to me. I've been having the same issue but have not considered the possibility of any specific changes to a minimum height. I'll give this a try, but yeah it can be annoying when I'm trying to save space.

i have only started using elevators, im on a cliff; a mesa. i have even put down foundations and ceilings into the cliff face, i just want a vertical carriage to the next level.

cannot place a valid elevator, even tried using a hatch frame. nothing. is this mods breaking? i only have 2 installed and they are functional.

i discovered something curious and I don't know if this will relate with a possible work around.
When I had my troubles, it was always with the standard elevator.
This time around, I spawned a fast elevator by accident but was surprised that it snapped into place.
I don't know which type you're having trouble with, but if it's a standard elevator give the fast one a try. Should that fail by making it in the usual method, try spawning it and then try.

i finally found a valid shaft height. 10 foundations. in the most excruicating way possible. i think it wanted me to detect from the top and i went higher, but short of some jiggery pokery; i now have a valid elevator. my blessing to you all to find likewise.

It's a known bug in single player.

Yes, unfortunately a bug showing up from time to time in some saves. It's unrelated to fast or normal, height, or even stability. I did lot tests around this. They did some changes to the whole building system, and the elevators are needing some fix again.

Only issue I ever have with it is when I leave the door at the bottom open while placing it. Always causes the elevator to stop at the door. Also have to place your anti-climb after the elevator.

Edit: I only use fast elevators.
