Shaped wood?

From all the videos I've seen and things I've read on Google shaped wood should be in the carpenters bench, for some reason I don't see it in there at all? Am I doing something wrong or is this some sort of bug? I've tried picking the bench up and placing it back down multiple times and also logging in/out with no luck

Please confirm you placed regular harvested wood into the carpenter bench. Until you do, you won't have the option to craft "shaped wood".

Yeah I placed regular "wood" that you would get from the start of the game with a regular stone hatchet and that probably is nowhere to be found. (Single player, no mods)

And you're okay with the fact that it takes 10 regular wood to make just one shaped wood. In other words, there was at least 10 regular wood in the carpenter bench.

I put 200+ in the bench and nothing, the icon doesn't seem to be there. I've played the game in the past (4years ago) and never ran into this problem. and I decided to come back to it, to see what was new and start playing again and I've been Stuck on this "shaped wood" issue for two days now. I've looked up a few videos on YouTube just to make sure I wasn't crazy or missing something but the icon just isn't there

Do you have any filters on? It is easy to click a filter on by mistake.

Easily possible, and easy to check. Look at the drop down menu at the upper right of the crafting interface and make sure it says "ALL" and not something else.

Question - are you modding the game, or were you before you took a break and came back to it? Do you have an outdated mod that's messing up your benches? Check your mod folders and uninstall/unsubscribe if those are causing issues.

Did you actually unlock the feat for the bench? Did you come back to an old game and maybe your feats were re-set or maybe you used a potion and did't buy that one again? If you had a bench but don't have the feat then the recipes that come with the feat won't be available.

You should also verify your game files if you haven't. Much has changed in the past 4 years and it's possible something got messed up during update(s). I've had to verify a few times to fix issues. If that doesn't help and nothing else has worked then, and I hate to say this, but a re-install may be the next step and might solve the issue.

making a new bench would test a lot of possible points of failure, all at the same time

Yep, and if you can't make a bench they you'll know you're missing the feat.
