Where is the encumbrance setting?
I found it in the windows no editor server settings. I can't find it in any of the in game menus. If I have to adjust it in the ini settings do I make the number smaller or larger to increase carry capacity? I'm playing single player and just want to bump it up a little bit. The base carry weight is unreasonably low at 140.

The base weight is not very high because you're meant to put points into that attribute in order to carry more stuff. I can totally understand why someone might want to tweak that a bit in a game that has so many items, and when almost every item can be useful in some ways, but there are in game ways to carry more loot.

Without modifying game files I can tell you that there's also a lot of +enc gear in the game including the three basic armour sets (the basic non-DLC light/med/heavy) and a backpack worn by bearer thralls that you can obtain if you convert them to a thrall. That backpack alone gives +5, but takes up your head armour slot. If worn with the light basic armour you'll end up with +9 encumbrance which is a significant boost.

There are other ways to mitigate weight, such as using weight reduction kits on your armour and getting your thralls or pets to carry the heavy stuff when you're running around harvesting resources. Elephants and high tier bearer thralls can carry a lot of stuff, for example.

Anyway, to answer your question - based on a couple posts I read (in various locations) a lower number should mean that all items weigh less. So if it's a base of 1.0 in the file try dropping it to 0.75 or 0.5.

There are 2 settings. Player encumbrance multiplier and player encumbrance penalty multiplier. I can't find any newer posts on this but I read an old one that said changing the player encumbrance multiplier actually changed the player level. I tried changing the penalty multiplier from 1.0 to 0.5 and it didn't seem to do anything. I have also read in older posts that there is a slider to adjust encumbrance. I have looked twice and don't see it anywhere.

Find and break one of these on the wheel.

Named ones will carry more. The specially named thralls in the game are named after community members. Catch them all.

It looks like this has been broken since 2017. I found an old Steam post that says changing the ini values have no effect at all and the developers removed the slider for encumbrance because it didn't work. WTF? It's 5 years later. LOL.

Great suggestions from you guys. I have been filling up my followers inventories as it appears they have no carry weight limits. Where this gets really annoying is moving crafting stations. Everything in the crafting station gets dumped into my inventory when I pick up the station.

I have looked at some of the mods in the Steam workshop. I don't see any that have been updated since 2021. Does anybody use a carry weight mod that works currently. I don't necessarily want unlimited carry weight, just a way to bump it up a bit.

Every time my thrall kills Narelle the pirate chick (my Siptah base is next door to her ship and it naturally became a part of the thrall-training course) I can’t help thinking that pandering is such an awful, tasteless thing. Freaks me out.

Sorry, Narelle.

A lot of changes have been made to the game. The biggest was the addition of "Attributes." When attributes were added to the game, that thread from 2017 became irrelevant. This post in the Wiki best answers your question.

https://conanexiles.fandom.com/wiki/Attribute

As for the mods not being updated, all of the active mod authors check their mods to verify that they work with the current build of the game. For the most part, this means that they do not need to update the mod.

You'd be looking for the encumbrance setting, not the penalty setting. Based on the info in the wiki the encumbrance penalty is how much being encumbered negatively affects your character. The other setting is the actual weight of the items you carry. Keep in mind that the wiki has a some information that may be out of date and incorrect due to several major changes made to the game in the last few years.

I am not surprised that some things in the .ini files may not be working. CE is full of bugs and things that simply don't work, or aren't used anymore (thrall pots) but are still in the game. They never really end up fixing a lot of the issues this game has had since early access and the initial launch so be prepared for some bugs and other issues as you progress through the game.

Moving large amounts of heavy stuff is time consuming because you have to shuffle inventory to a thrall or pet if you're moving it more than a few hundred feet. That or you must make multiple trips to keep within your weight limit so you aren't slowly shuffling along. There is one other option. Re-spec your attribute points to attain the maximum encumbrance attribute score of 50 through attribute points and gear bonuses. At encumbrance 50 you move at full speed even when over encumbered. :steamhappy:

Elephants have very large inventories (fill it up and it adds a few more rows and you can scroll up/down - more than anything else in the game other than your character) so if you're moving a lot of things a very long distance grab a mount, and an elephant. Load your character up with all the light stuff, toss the heavy things on the mount and pet. As you've noticed you have a huge amount of inventory slots compared to thralls/pets but a weight limit that can be restrictive if you have not spent points in encumbrance. Thralls and pets have zero weight restrictions but have much smaller physical inventory space.

This is a good article on the Server settings. There is a console command to display all of the commands. Please keep in mind that changing any of these may adversely affect gameplay.

https://help.serverblend.com/en/article/server-settings-explained-for-conan-exiles-ogz0nk/

It is not recommended to change the settings by the developers.

Sorry, Narelle.

I was pretty happy that I could not be enslaved. I wish there was a better reward for killing me though :)

I wish Funcom found a better way to honor their fans. Letting other players enslave and brutally kill/mutilate their avatars is kinda gross, in my opinion.

I've seen a few mentions of thrall pots not being used. I have a thrall pot and it is full of gruel, assorted cooked meats, soups, honey, etc and it works fine. When I check my fighter thralls inventory when they are guarding my base they always have a few meat on them and I didn't put it in their inventory. I have one fighter thrall who actually got a bonus from eating a healthy diet.
Ellorien Jun 6, 2022 @ 4:19pm
Last night I went into the inventory of a thrall standing next to the box with animal food. He had 150 pieces of raw meat he stole from that box. Sigh.

Thralls eat food I give them individually just fine. Better this way if you want them to have specific bonuses while they follow you. What they randomly get from the pot gets spoiled more often than not. I don’t use pots any more since thralls don’t starve now.

I distribute the appropriate food among thralls only before the incoming purge and only if they are expected to participate (just in case there is a big legendary monster) but it’s kinda overkill ‘cause a bunch of lvl20 T4s wearing super epic armor has more chances being struck by a falling meteorite in the desert than being seriously harmed during purges.

I'm excited to get that far in the game but it will be a ways off. I'm enjoying taking it slow. I got my butt handed to me last night by the rotbranch monster and lost my tier 3 fighter.

I'm playing single player so turned the spoil setting to 0.1. Most food stays good for 40 to 100 hrs. There is so much grinding in this game in single player I had to adjust some settings so I wasn't spending all my time just trying to survive and keep the thralls fed. I know you don't have to feed them but it does provide some bonuses and allows them to heal faster.
Ellorien Jun 6, 2022 @ 8:44pm
I play single player only. On default settings. No mods except for paragon 300 so I level up past lvl 60. Frankly, after reaching lvl 120-130 I usually start over.
Now I am just training random berserkers (because there is nothing else to do) and waiting for 3.0 before I restart.

Last time I checked the thrall pots, and feeding boxes for animals, were no longer required in order to maintain thralls/pets. They used to starve to death if not fed so those two items were a way to make sure food was available without going to each one and giving them food. Now they don't starve and die. Food simply provides higher percentages to gain attributes on level up, and better healing.

They might still "work" but they're no longer a necessity so most players don't use them, or only use them cosmetically. I'm happy to hear they still function, but I'm certain that thralls and pets won't always select the best food from the pot or feeding box.

Exactly what I mean.

emitfudd - Yeah, single player can feel like a major grind when you're new to the game. I totally understand tweaking some of the settings when you aren't working with other players. I've got a lot of play time now and I wouldn't want to make the game too easy by changing too many settings if I was playing single player regularly. The only thing I might change is the training time for thralls/pets. Usually you can come back a day or two later and they're trained and ready but in SP you can't do that since the "server" isn't running if you aren't playing so their training does not progress if you aren't in the game.
