Get a good sickle and harvest them with that, you will get more aloe than you need.
Next time I come across aloe I will be curious to see how many I can harvest with my obsidian sickle with the advanced fitting to increase harvest rate.
In 1 hour of farming aloe with a sickle I can get atleast 10k+ this is on official servers
Though I guess that'll be getting easier if you can corrupt yourself to the point of a flying bat ride. A bat-ride to get there easier, and only 50% the health left to heal!
While I don't completely disagree with you it's never really a major problem (though it can take a while) to get to a good aloe harvesting location on the Exiled Lands map even if you haven't unlocked map rooms yet.
Once you have unlocked map rooms and your bracelet is attuned to some of the obelisk locations it becomes rather easy. Just drop a couple map rooms in key locations on the map and travel becomes very easy, especially if you bring a mount, and that's even if you build your base in a remote location. The good aloe harvesting areas on the map are within a very reasonable distance of at least one obelisk and no matter where you build you're never a huge distance from an obelisk.
I do use the dryer and planter method to grow some aloe (and other things) because once you get it going it's unlimited as long as you can supply enough bark and compost. Since you can also dry plant fiber to get more seeds you can keep the cycle going indefinitely if you've got a couple stabled horses to make manure. It's viable, but unless you have a large setup it isn't fast.
