Surviving Extreme Cold
Hey guys, so I just hit 60, but with the new armors I unlock I still die to extreme cold, how can I survive it? I read I just need vanir armors and spiced food? Should I get the vitality perk as well?

Vanir armor isn't bad, but there's symbols on each of the armor pieces that explain what its good for, +sun means better in hot enviroments, while +ice means its better in cold regions.

Spiced food is my way to survive it, better option is fiery hot dishes that you unlock with pirate cuisine from pirate camp in jungle. Just keep refreshing the buff every time you see your temperature starts droping to extreme cold.

You can mix Epic Vanir + Epic Slaver and you will survive both snow and volcano biomes.

If that is too expensive for you to craft you can also opt to get the sword from the undead miniboss ontop of the Aquaduct or try to be lucky and get a Solspeil from legendary boxes.

Is spiced food all you need? What armor do you use?

Be nice if the buffs lasted longer then 10 seconds.

I went with medium vanir armor, that's enough for snow biome, just pack a stack or two of food. But if you plan on entering the frost giant temple you might want to do what BIT Bear said. It's a bit colder in there.

I am currently on my way to the cold biomes. I have 4 pieces of Lemurian armor and under stats my hot and cold bars are a little more than half way. With the regular heavy armor I only had one segment on hot and cold. Should this be enough? I have pirate cuisine unlocked but I didn't plan on going this far on this expedition so I didn't bring any spicy food.

I have first perk in survival and I can run around naked in snow just fine except Bridge of the Betrayer and couple of other spots that are extremely cold, on those spots I need to drink some alcohol drink and I'm fine. If I wear any kind of epic armor I don't even have to use alcohol, worst I'm going to be is cold.

It is an outstanding protection against cold. Much better than Vanir armor
Im in the regular game, not the dlc area though

The symbols are buggy on some pieces, and it's been an issue for a while. You pretty much have to wear whatever armour you think will be good and check your totals.

I know the Vanir armour sets are bugged (because of course the armour that's obviously meant for cold isn't working properly - thanks Funcom), the light and medium have reversed hot/cold resist. Go with the heavy set. The corsair garb is good, I've used that a bit, but there are other suits that are even better. Check the wiki.

One trick is wield a torch as it warms you up a notch, and bring spicy foods for the really cold areas. I generally don't have to do more than carry a torch in my not-so-good armour, and in my current set I don't need the torch or warm food for any location.

Your survival score also affects your ability to withstand heat and cold, try upping that. It's not a buff, it's a certain amount for every point, I think the Wiki tells you what the formula is.

Stay away from the lake near the bridge and do not use the bridge and you will be fine with almost any armor as long as you run with a torch out.
