I’m on a private pve server, any use for the trebuchet?

Trebuchets are cool, i want to yeet something with it, also, i just made the tinkerers bench, can you only apply 1 weapon upgrade to a weapon? or can you stack them? seems like increasing the raw damage is more important than anything else.

No real use for trebs on pve, other than as decoration in your base.
Only one upgrade per weapon or tool, and you can't change the upgrade afterwards.

I disagree. Trial by artillery is a time-honored method of judging accused misdemeanor offenders and settling civil disputes. You setup a long obstacle course, strip down the contending parties, have them setup beds on one end, and make them run to the other. First to reach it wins the case. In the way, you put trebuchets, spikes, maybe some dangerous animals if you've got admins handy, anything that feels right. What better way to suss out and punish whoever used up all the sorcery supplies, removed structural members from someone's house, or filled up the wheel of pain with low tier dancers?

It’s expensive to make, a bit much if it’s just for killing player bases, which are all my friends.

Other than, er, settling legal disputes as TBB pointed out, no. The trebuchet is an expensive decoration in terms of single player and PvE co-op. I guess it might be possible to use it for amusement in occasionally taking out hostile wildlife near your base, but a bow & some arrows would serve equally well for that and would consume vastly less resources.

If you want to yeet something, how about a friend or a thrall? If it's PvE and and full nudity is enabled, you could try psychological warfare, like launching a bunch of naked dudes into other people's bases.
