Any settings for baby animal spawn rate?
There is a black panther close to my base that is always eating a giant ribcage. Earlier today I went over there and I didn't see the jaguar. I went closer and saw a baby walking around. I had no idea how to make it a pet so I exited the game to research. When I logged back in to the game it was an adult again. I'm playing single player. Are there any ini settings to change spawn chance? I don't think I have seen anything that affects this in the regular settings menus.

I'm not aware of any baby animal spawn settings but there could be some hidden somewhere in a file.

There are jaguars in the game but if it was black then you probably saw a panther. Baby panthers should be fairly easy to find if you poke around places where the adults tend to be. The same applies for most animals. Babies can often spawn anywhere that an adult can spawn. There are a few animals that only spawn babies in specific places, like the lion, but most of them can spawn in numerous locations.

I suppose to have a better chance at babies spawning you should simply clear out the adults each time you go past that area. The next spawn could be a baby.

One post suggested that some animal babies seem to spawn more often near a carcass but I don't know if that's true or not.

Edit: I dug around online and in the server settings and I couldn't find anything that affects the baby spawn rate or chance. If you really want to get a specific pet you can search online for their usual spawn locations.

I keep confusing those two. I edited my OP.

There is a fairly easy way to get a baby to spawn there. Put a thrall near the spawn. Anytime you come close the thrall will either kill the adult that spawns or a baby will spawn that the thrall will ignore.

I found a spawn spot for the baby panthers. I walked up to it and there was no prompt to interact with it to pick it up?

Use E to catch it Sometimes it is quite clunky

There was no prompt to interact at all.

No there's not :) just like bushes and branches, you can just hit E to pick the cub up.

It can be tricky sometimes. I find you have to be pretty accurate with your aim - especially if they're running around.

In single player the world regenerates very quickly when you leave an area. So the respawns will change etc. On Officials or private servers this does not happen. Each spawn has a chance to spawn an elite or a baby for creatures.Same applies to thralls- a named or regular- no baby obviously.
