Big blue thing with tentacles?

I've never seen one before, I searched all over underneath it, climbed up under it, raided the village under it, found a sorcerer with nothing except failed spells, and on the mountain a lot of Grey Lupine.

Does this thing mean anything or is it just a decoration?

Usually there is an event underneath it.

Tentacles belong to a Great Old One. Yog-Sothoth or maybe Cthulhu

can you get rid of it in any way, like resolving the event or directly attacking it with special weapons or magic.

Yep event i run into one the other day just started a brand new character, and promptly run right the ♥♥♥♥ back out rags and stone mace in hand.

If you mean hole in the sky with tentacles coming out of it: its an event called Surge. It was originally in Siptah but now its been moved to also exiled lands. Theres supposed to be special spawns underneath it.

I was told by someone in the game that it indicated an event, but I couldn't find anything, I spent an hour looking around under it. What is supposed to happen?

Thanks for the link, I guess I must have arrived too late or something because even though the thing was around for a long time, I didn't find anything out of the usual.
