Pet won't go into the taming queue
I'm quite new to this game so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.

I've built an animal pen, captured some baby shalebacks and crafted some succulent shellfish. I put the food into the animal pen and then put in several shaleback babies, but they don't go into the taming queue. Is there something else I should be doing to get the taming process started?

Are you putting the babies in the inventory or in the slot(s) at the top?

I put them in the slots at the top. I've seen several YouTube videos so I know where to put the babies. And the food. But they still won't go into the taming queue.

Yeah, I don't know then. I started 5 yesterday using the desert berries and got 2 greater shalebacks, and 3 that I let go. Maybe the shellfish isn't working.

Some of the foods have changed in the sorcery update. The wiki is out of date, as well as many of the videos. (Even before the update, many of the videos were out of date. The game has had a lot of changes over time.) Try some other food, like the desert berries seven mentioned. I know those work.

Fiber is the default food for shalebacks if I remember right. Any fish you give them should be raw, not cooked. Some foods will give a greater chance at the pets being a greater version and yeah the wiki might be out of date on that now with 3.0.

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll be experimenting with the food today.

cooked food does not work, has to be uncooked. I see that you mentioned you cooked it.

He said succulent shellfish. The only succulent shellfish in the game, as far as I know, is the shadespiced succulent shellfish. This is specifically meant to be pet taming food, and is one of the things that you use to get a better chance at a greater shaleback pet.

9 out of 10 times when people are reporting that their pets are not taming, it's because they have changed the crafting material requirements.
