The developers have no say in whether the game has an in game store anymore, a Chinese company called Tencent bought Funcom and they tell Funcom what to do and if Funcom doesn't like it, then too bad.
It was sarcasm, but ok. And they don't care if you open your wallet for them, Tencent, the parent company got their money and everything else is just a bonus now.
all dlc for conan don't add much expect sciptah.
as for money grab , battlepass is only thing that can count as dlc , and you should buy only it , spend damn 10$ take back 1200 crom coins for completing it and wait for next one , my god dlc that can extend if you play game ?!?! good lord in haven who saw that.
only bad scenario is introducing changes in battlepas rewards/price or spending coins and not completing one , store wich don't even have items in it is for those who miss out 2-3 battlepases that's all.
I googled it for you, a typical game developer in Norway makes anywhere from 240k NOK - 835k NOK, but the average seems to be around 425k which is roughly about $42,000 USD. Which honestly, that's not great pay but it's also not too terrible, but I'm sure that's a moot point for them since they're doing what they love most likely.
I mean, I work at a hospital and an amazon warehouse making about $65,000 per year combined, but I would not say it's something I particularly enjoy doing. I would much rather make a bit less if it meant I could find enjoyment in my career, though that's the end goal of having these two jobs. So I can afford to go to a language school in Japan and then preferably attend Todai, KyotoU or Tohokudai(Tonpei) in order to become a physicist which is my real dream job.
Entry level is the lowest pay, then it increases the more years experience you gain. Seems like the pay is actually better in the US, but that's probably due to the cost of living.
True, if you enjoy something you are more inclined to do a better job because you actually like what you do. I'd accept lower pay for a job I would enjoy more for sure. I used to work at a shipping warehouse, it's exhausting work but it definitely pays the bills, and it kept me busy too. I wish you the best with your future career path.
How do you suggest Funcom create revenue? They have to make $ somehow and it's obvious that the Base Game and DLC's werent bringing in enough.
I agree that some of the Shop stuff is over priced, but they have to do something.
If Funcom doesnt make $ on this game Tencent will shut it down.
Is that what you all want?
If the base game and DLCs weren't generating enough revenue, how did they afford to keep this game going for 5 odd years now? They've been doing DLCs and free updates in that timeframe as well. They have the money. Don't fall for their excuses.
It's a simple reality that no amount of money is enough for companies like Tencent. They could become the most profitable piece of entertainment media in all of human history (GTA5 has reached this milestone. google it.) and they would STILL find ways to justify predatory marketing nonsense. Because even when GTA is making the most money out of any game/movie/book in human history, IT IS STILL NEVER ENOUGH MONEY. They always have to go further. Like trying to wring blood from a stone.
So I beg you; stop listening when medium-large companies come sobbing about 'wE cAnT aFFoRd It'... they're lying to you.
Not that tencent cares though. You're probably right when you say that if funcom doesn't meet their absurd profit expectations then the game will get shut down. That'll be a sad day, but it might be the only choice we have. What's the alternative? Let these companies continue getting greedier and greedier until we're literally paying for in-game ammo in COD or something? (one game in like 2018-2020 talked about this but didn't do it because of the INSTANT backlash to the mere idea)
I would rather every game company go bankrupt so that actual artists can rebuild than live in a world where my video game enjoyment only goes as far as my wallet can rent.
Make free content updates. Sell cosmetics. No BP, because BP only sells when your playerbase is 12.
most of the good stuff has a variation in the 60 lvls of the battlepass.
you probably won't use the stone walls anyway, the weapons are probably not even top lvl dmg, emotes whatever.
get mods already....
