Passive Alchemist Farm Effectiveness

I saw this video of a passive Alchemist base farm, where you get a Gold Vein Rocknose, a Silver Vein Rocknose, and a spider in your animal pen, and they supposedly make Gold Ore, Silver Ore and Ichor that you can farm.

My question is that if anyone is using it or not. if so, How did you get the rocknoses. I have spent over 50 eggs and no Gold Vein or Silver Vein rocknose. And the spiders makes like only 8 9 ichor per day. I have been using Shade Spiced Gold Dust for 26% chance of rocknoses, but I have no idea whats wrong.

I dont blame the game or mechanics, I just want to know that if this method for farming Alchemist base is even worth all the damn effort, or should I just focus on making alchemical base the way Crom meant it to be made?

You are probably better off just farming Bearer 3s. Their pack can contain up to 1000 alchemical base, though the contents are random and it isn't guaranteed.

I have 4 pens down with gold veign, silver veigns and spiders, dont have to farm anymore

I can't speak for the spiders.... but for the rocknoses the shade spice gold dust is super inefficient when it comes to generating gold vien rocknoses, you only get 6% better chance than the base 20% chance on just simply using gold dust according to wiki... Given you need about 30 gold dust to make a single shade spice gold dust, you can see how horrible the mathematics is going the route you used... On average you may need to burn as many as 30 eggs before getting a single gold vein rocknose using just gold dust... I've not bothered with the silver ones because silver nodes are just about farming the nodes, the problem with getting gold in general means a random chance when mining obsidian or happening on gold bars or coin in chests...

As mentioned if your main goal is after alchemical base, sometimes its just better to farm Bearer 3s as the previous poster mentioned... The gold vien rocknoses is a nice slow passive bonus to have, but it is slow unless you have a lot of them (10+, I currently have four and each they they generate about 20 gold ore ~ 6 gold bars per day )... If you had my luck I had a purge drop on top of my animal pen and destroy it with the single gold vein Rocknose I got since playing the game again after a year away... Lets say I was not happy at that purge! cause that was 15 eggs at the time just to get that single one and I was having trouble getting to the volcano area at the time hardly anyone with a map room in the area on my server!

I went through 20 rock noses with just silver dust. Got one silver vein. I farm tonnes of gold coins from sea chests, it’s cheap turnover. The only pain is the commitment to time.

I don’t have a high need for alchemical base so my supplies are already just fine for now. I play a long game.

For a third budget option, Deathwhisper Ruins is a one-stop shop for alchemical base mats. You don't get a huge amount, but you can count on always finding some gold and silver in chests and ichor in spiders. It's also a good source of silk, chitin, ironstone, and brimstone. Decent enough place to level a follower as well. It's easy to reach and fast to clear, so it's a good choice when time and patience are not abundant.

hahaha, they do. but the rock nose hatch chance for the gold and silver variants is quite low. so after 50 eggs you should have a few. if you didnt, well... that's rng.

now, the noses are very inefficient. so if you saw 'THIS BIG RETURN OH WOW LOOK AT MY BASE CLICK HERE PLZ SUB MY YOUTUBE FOR VIEWS PLZ WOW LET ME SHOW YOU THIS METHOD WHERE I TALK FOR 20 MINUTES AND TELL YOU NOTHING' clickbait title showing this very efficient farm, 1 of a few things is happening.

1- he modded the ♥♥♥♥ out of the production rates of the spiders and rocknoses
2- he's got so many of them that the production rate ends up being high. but he spent 100's of hours farming them
3- cheated all the gold required to buy the eggs, and then bought them till he had enough to be impressive, then made his video. the goal is the video, not the method, or he would have explained the entire thing properly, and you wouldn't need to ask here.

in my experience you need to burn around 30 eggs for 1 silver or gold nose. so you have to raid a lot of gold to buy the eggs. 1000's of coins bro.

if you actually want to do it legit, you end up making a strategic choice between alchemical base production and rocknose lottery lol.

Waste of time. I have over 430 hrs into the game and have not come across a bearer with alchemical base one time.

I go to the pilgrim trail at the volcano and pickaxe the obsidian rocks to gather gold. I go to the silver mine east of Sepermeru to gather silver. You can get ichor anywhere there is a lot of spiders.

RNG isn't good to some of us. OP is better off to farm the materials and be done with it.
