Why graphics look old and washed out?
I am running it on a GTX 1080, everything Ultra, FPS is 100+ on 1920x1080, yet the game looks blurry and "washed-out," as if everything is on Low and I am playing on 800x600...

It just doesn't feel like an all-Ultra game made in 2016, making me wonder if there is some sort of setting making it look that bad that I haven't noticed?

For example, rocks/mountains look like one plastic surface, without any detail to them no matter how close you are, or the character bodies (hands etc.) look fake and plastic (even glowy at times, like plasteline).

And generally the textures (trees, sand etc) look "foggy" and blurry - like there's no detail behind them on Ultra.

Am I missing something?
Thanks :chocola:

There probably trying smooth the game out as much as they can

"optimizations" because of consoles and low end pcs. I noticed worse looks also. Right now, im playing with low postprocess quality to easen up the blurr.
But check also if you dont have AA on, most games these days just allow mixed types of AA where blurring edges is part of the process. Use DSR without smoothing for oldschool AA.

I hope they divide the postprocess slider to more effects, like DoF, volumetric lightening/god rays and such. Also i havent noticed AF setting in the menu.

This is interesting https://www.conanexiles.com/blog/tackled-texturing-large-open-world-conan-exiles-short-amount-time/

Under one of those pictures "Notice texture quality is very similar between low and ultra settings".................... its a good thing i guess

At least you seem to know what in hell you're doing and know your system.

I put post processing to low and AA to 2, looks much better.

Also, i just noticed there is just very feint reflrections on the metal parts of aquilonian armor it looks too plastic/matte (ultra postprocess), i compared it with odler screenshot where it looked great.

And no, its not a thing of problems with registering settings, ive done that before. The graphics are washed, simplified and textures worse

Textures are better than they ever were (I've been modding the textures since launch so I would know), there is some issue with post processing though.

I've noticed this too, but I wonder if it's part of the weather system my character looks awesome in the desert but washed out and a bit foggy in the north, I've also noticed areas getting colder or hotter at diffrent times of the day,

I hope this graphics issue is just implementation pains and will smooth out

Well, post a screenshot, OP. of various places and your settings.

Thanks. I will try setting everything to Low and then Ultra again for now.

My AA is set to 6. I have everything on Ultra basically, but I see mucholder games with so good detail and this one just feels like i am playing on 800x600 Low...

don't put AA too high, it blurs the graphics. That's what it does.
AlucardIII Apr 21, 2018 @ 2:05pm
As we said, dont use the games AA, maybe just 2, its just some smoothing hybrid AA that blurrs the game. Also the Postprocess washes the games visual depth

Thanks guys. I set it to x2 and it improved a lot. I'll try turning it off. It was set to x6 by default since I chose the Ultra preset.
