Failed to place building

Location: ctrl shift L doesn’t work

Well like an idiot, I assumed building in this game worked so I removed a wall in my base and now have a gaping hole in my wall for all to enjoy because now I can’t place any structures or anything in my base. All I get is that error, failed to place building. Relogging, removing the wall/foundation/etc from my inventory doesn’t work. Having another clan member do it fails. Even placing a bed, I have to run around my entire base spamming left click until finally it places, in a random spot. I don’t get it. So I’m just sitting here hoping nobody comes in. Seems like after the 33 patch.

If this is on a 2nd floor or higher, make sure you have enough support below. Even if it's temp support added.

If you have a large bonfire or pit of Yog try removing those and see if that helps.

I get that message when I am standing too close to the spot i want to place something at.

Maybe you're standing too close to where you want to put it down.
Happens to me a lot, so I move back a bit ... as long as it's not off a cliff.

Someday .. FunCom will get their act together .. SO much in building doesn't work like it should .. compared to other games ...... and Way to Much clearing is done when placing building.

Don't know if it work on a server _ tho

Less Building Placement Restrictions will work on a private server.

Nearly a year on, the Failed to Place Building bug still persists, i'm on single player and it still happens.

Not related. When it is a stability issue you will get no notification anything is wrong. It just won't place in the spot or will only do so in a way that is undesirable.

The bug you're talking about can usually be worked around by switching back and forth between items in your hotbar. This might take several times for it to work however.
