Like a real game.
I'll look around for a solution and if I find one, I'll relay it back here.
My solution for the past year has been a pirated version.
I've owned this since day one and this is whats needed to properly play the game solo now.
Sadly that option wont work with regards to a steamdeck.
Like a real game.
So far no luck, I've performed the following:
* Doing nothing (baseline)
* Getting through a workshop update I didn't know I had
* Verifying files (no issues there)
* Disabling all previously-active mods
* Launching the game via the BattlEye exe file
* Launching the game via the Funcom Launcher (I normally circumvent it, while disconnected from the internet it will not open up, but will eventually launch the game).
Allowing, of course, for a normal, internet-connected startup before and between each of these attempts.
I'll try a full reinstall overnight, if that fails then I'll copy over the game files from another computer, which worked last time.
When I enter the game on steam, the connection with Funcom comes, but when choosing the game option, I choose the co-op/single player mode. And then appears to choose to play cooperatively or just one player. I take the second choice. Nothing against those who enjoy PVP, but I prefer to continue playing this way and enjoy what the game brings me. I don't like PVP. I prefer PVE. So far, I continue to play this way, without choosing to play the online mode and join a server.
I don't know if this is the issue of playing offline. But I'm going this way.
1. The executable is located where Steam is installed. My path is different since I have Steam installed on my HDD.
C:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles
Use windows to create a shortcut for the ConanSandbox.exe and move it to your desktop.
2. Start Steam in offline mode and launch the game that way. This will cause some errors that you can 'X' out of to get past and the game will start normally.
Both of these will bypass the Funcom Launcher and BattlEye. You will, once past the opening cinematics, get the game menu, and can choose to play Single Player and either continue a saved game or start a new game.
**CORRECTION** This is that correct path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox.exe
One thing I did notice, though was the executable cattibria references does not function properly. Upon activating it, an error message pops up, referencing a 'ConanSandbox-Win64-Test' exe file, which is absent from its supposed file location. Perhaps that is related.
this will help a lot take my points it the least i can do
Time for me to get banned again.
Please test your instructions. I get a failure to initiate 2 error. Please test this alternative executable, leaving all other instructions the same.
\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox_BE.exe
Hopefully, this will work.
No disrespect to the mod, someone must keep order and clearly the intent is good. I'll take the ban if you'll just verify the "facts".
And actually, to skip BattleEye, please use:
\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox.exe
I did test my steps before I posted that. The path I copied was what was showing as the path in "File Explorer" and not from the shortcut that was created.
This is the target path for my Shortcut as copied from the properties and is the correct path:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Binaries\Win64\ConanSandbox.exe"
Again, I have Steam installed on my HDD and the Library resides on SSDD. As for BattlEye, I only get errors from that if I start the game with Steam while offline and a message from the Funcom Launcher that login failed and I need to restart the game. As for the errors, simply closing them while offline will still allow the game to start normally.
