seem to have more than a few on them, and there are other servers lists, and ones that do not get listed by choice(private). I would not say dead at all, maybe just some work to find a server you like, that also likes you maybe.
But it's true that there is an abundance of servers for a game that has 10-15K players online, and the fact that there are two separate maps doesn't really help. So yeah.. there are lot of servers that are empty or almost empty, but there are also many servers with a healthy player base.
Ah ok makes much more sense now. Thank you for the response!
That's unfortunate...Looks like a great game.
I may end up just getting cause i'm bored lol but wish the devs cared about it a little more lol
MP is not dead by a long shot.
Quintessential question: in a game w/ max 40 ppl in server, how big of a playerbase does there need to be? And this is a game where you come back to a server once you start playing there. It's not like a shooter or something where servers are just a commodity part of the experience and the ppl you played w/ yesterday are not going to be there today.
To refute 120's ridiculous statement with recent (past 3-4 mos) experience: I have made chars on seriously about 20 different official servers, in all the game modes. A few of those servers have been "dead" -- which I would like to point out is a fine and valid part of the overall ecosystem, too, for people who want to play on a desolate server; sometimes that's me -- but most of them had at least 5-10 core ppl that were active. Usually some established players, and some new players, and some in between.
It comes and goes. My first PvE server, which was averaging 10 ppl, at one point, went all the way to 38/40. That's what first prompted me to start making other chars, realizing "wow this server is so busy I may not be able to play when I want". That lasted for a few weeks and then it cycled back to what it was. Meanwhile I moved on to other game modes and servers.
If a frothy, 24/7 PVP experience is what you are looking for, there are plenty of servers offering that. (Private of course, cuz that's not the default ruleset.) I'm sure there's high turnover tho. It's a brutal game and losers walk away with less than nothing (i.e. no gear, no base, _and_ all your time wasted), unless winners are merciful.
Bottom line there is fun to be had in this game and calling it dead is just ... idk ... that's not even relevant. So to answer your original question of 'why?' .... cuz they are haters. That's why.
