what do leyshrine braziers do

apparently i can put decaying eldarium in them and they light up. does lighting them all up accomplish anything? does it matter? what effect do they actually have?

From what I have gathered, in a pvp focused server, the "elder crystals" as I call em, can be put in those braizers to serve as a protection function, imagien like the god bubble around an alter, so they work in a small area around a layshire, as a extra protection while your doing a surge, so other players can not enter and steal they thralls you are trying to knock/put into your W.o.P.
