Life After 40
I have seemed to have lost my way or direction as an exile. As stated I have reached level 40 but I'm not sure what to do next. As my good friend Benny Barbarino would say, "I'm so confused." I'm afraid I'm too weak for most dungeons and I'm getting tired of farming desert thrall camps and adding blocks to my base. So I would like some suggestions from some of you more experienced exiles on where I should be exploring/doing and what should I be wearing. I have a couple of pets and thralls and I still wear medium armor. Should I make better armor or is looted armor better? Should I focus on thralls or exploring? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Exile without a Purpose.

Alright.... lets see... HOw about 10 things you can do off the top of my head lol

1. have you gotten all the obelisks? You need those before you make a maproom.
2. do you have some of the odd skills (mountaineering, cartography, cooking, brewing, etc.)?
3. out of your thralls, do you have a cimmerian berserker? Get one! XD
4. Did you kill the witch queen? (its in the jungle, look it up on CE Wiki, bring a thrall) XD
5. are you farming star metal? DO you know where to get star metal? Do you know how to process star metal? You will need it as you level up.
6. I know you didn't get better armor... SO go to the black keep in the north, explore the black keep, battle a dark knight and learn legion armor and teliths sorrow. (bring booze and a good thrall for fighting) look it up on youtube Rottenjon has a walkthrough
7. after that go to the far north and explore the volcano!!! gold, obsidian tools and weapons, psycho cultists in crazy cloth armor. Theres much more. You think I gave something away? HAH! I told you nothing! XD
8. Explore the jungle. You will be glad you did and you are high enough in level to handle it... Catch a Komodo and use that as a pet in there. A salamander is better. XD
9. DId you go to Buccaneer bay?
10. Have you heard of "The GodBreaker"? when you are higher in level seek that out! XD you'll be glad you did.

Armor and weapons drop alot. I never even mentioned the Unnamed city which you will need to explore and defeat bosses there to get fragments you will need later. That is also your cartography skill there by the obelisk. You need that skill most of all if you intend to travel easily around the map...

I could write an encyclopedia on the game LOL I hope this helps you and GL2U
Sincerely, Kane the Cannibal. o/

Much, much appreciated Kane. That there sure fills up my to do list. I don't have any special thralls seems my pet keeps killing them before I can knock them out. I've got two obelisks, so I'll look for more.

Thanks, Exile with a Goal.

If you are thrall hunting, don't take a pet. Take your best combat thrall and equip him with your best truncheon and heavy armor. It sounds like your base is in the desert. The best thrall in that area is N'batu. Once leveled to 10 or so N'batu can knock out a 'zerker or a relic hunter treasure seeker. I wouldn't recommend trying that without steel truncheons (level 50). It is possible to get steel truncheons as a drop before level 50, but it is usually dangerous to try.

As for things to do, explore and test yourself against the foes in each new area. Make sure you put down a bedroll frequently. I suggest you travel to Sepermeru. Be sure and set your thrall to "guard me" first or he will aggro the entire city. It's a great place for thralls and free thick leather. Hint: look up

If you are looking for close crafting thralls near you, try Sinner's Refuge. It's only populated by Exiles but there is usually a T4 or two all the way in the back.

If you don't already have a level 20 fighter thrall, work on that, their much tougher than your character is. It will make combat a lot easier. They don't all end up coming out the same.

Here's something to ponder.
Do you want excitement such as enemies coming to knock on your door and burn down your house?
Or do you just want to live in peace?

Do you want to leave the Exiled lands to return home only to find yourself shipwrecked on the Isle of Siptah? Where does your luck go with your fate?

The choice is yours.
As Conan suggests, "Choose wisely".

Wow, a reply that not only contributes 0 to the conversation, but also goes out of its way to try and make someone else feel like crap. I bet you can't go anywhere with all the girls just throwing their panties at you all the time.

Now back to the thread. Hey OP you should look into setting up a wheel outside of Sinners Refuge. Lots of T4 thrall in there. Also, im assuming that since you are 40 and running out of ideas, you are on a PvE server. So you assuming you have the whole map to yourself and some DLCs under your belt, go out to a big open spot and let your creativity run wild. Build some astetic bases. Hell if Benny is such a good friend, get him to play with you. There is almost nothing that 2 people with thrall can't over come.
kevink27 Oct 12, 2021 @ 9:48pm
You don't need all the obelisks to make a maproom, you just can't teleport to the ones you don't have. First reply was a little misleading to me. You could try to solo some world bosses. Giant spiders are fairly easy to farm keys from, they also give a bunch of xp.

Hey thanks for all of your suggestions and support. BTW, Benny referred to a sitcom character played by John Travolta called "Welcome back Carter". It nice to know people have your back.

I guess "Benny" was Vinny Barbarino's cousin. Wha? where? When? Why? - I'm Soooo confused!!!

Well you know, memory is the first to go. It was Vinny fo whom I was referring. My bad. Thanks Kal!

Any time you get bored, or start to find an area too easy or repetitive, just walk somewhere new. Look at the map, pick a spot you haven't visited, and go. The map seems huge at first but once you get map rooms, unlock a few obelisks, and learn where everything is really doesn't seem so big. At 40 you're going to be relatively safe in most areas, and you've probably learned how to outrun just about everything by now. Be cautious and you'll be fine. Just fine. Usually. Oh, and use bedrolls or small camps with a bed so you don't respawn miles away if you die. I always forget and end up running long distances when I mess up.

If you're at level 40 and still in the southern desert area, the starter zone, then just explore north or east until you find a new area. I spent way too much time in the starter zone when I was new to the game and I did find it a bit dull. Now I know it's worth exploring much earlier than I had, and that there's a lot to see and do beyond that initial desert zone.

No worries mate! And you're right, the memory isn't what it used to be. I almost got into an argument with the wife because I was CERTAIN that Rod Serlings name was Rod Sterling. I guess I figured he was made out of silver or something. I dunno, I think I'm a victim of my age too. But let's keep on swinging for the fence my friend, we're not out for the count just yet, eh?

Oh, and BTW, may I be so bold and to suggest (he said full of false modesty) you give a modded server a try. We run a server called Orion's Belt (PvE-C +18) and there is SO much to do, it often overwhelms some of our players...not that would happen to you, but we have excellent Admins that help guild our players from level 1 to level 300! plus we have quests, factions, professions, TONS of materials to build with, decorations, monsters, flying mounts, pets of every imaginal size, shape and creation...oh, and carrier bird's (pigeons, parrots, crows, eagles, etc.) that deliver mail to your base. Come see what life is like on a well administered highly modded server.

I play on this server but I never able to find it using the search function. If I am not allowed to post IPs, let me know. 172.106.131.133:30900

Personally, I am having a good time with the mods but I am a rookie, so much to learn about Conan Exiles

Edit: changed the IP to reflect changes
