Best new weapons?

Not counting Legendaries, what are the new best weapons? Punch daggers, 2Hand Axes? The reworked 2Handeds?

I'm not sure about the dual wield weapons, maybe i need to work with them some more.

Pretty much any 1 handed axe and shield works for me.
For smacking rocknoses around, i'll use 2 handed maces.

Different weapons for different foe. Finding the top notch weapon in its class depends on your mods. You may want to bleed out a critter--daggers. You may want a little distance from gators, birds, etc. --spears. You may want more distance from something like a Luft's toxic aroma---bow. Part of the fun of the game is figuring out what's best works for your style of play & the foe your facing. Experiment.

I thinks what the OP is asking is whats the best of the new/reworked weapons, not whats best overall.

I tried all the new/reworked weapons in PvE so take what I say with a handful of salt.

The punch dagger are basically the same as regular daggers with a different move set,
they suck against groups but are ok in 1v1, I like them for the added variety in weapons but I won't be using them.

The new 2h axes move set is without a shadow of a doubt better than the old one, Its both more fluid and clean in terms of animation and more versatile in combat, despite this I still think 2h axes suck and like the punch daggers I won't be using them.

I hate the short swords with a passion so I'm not going to say anything about them.

My favorite of the new/reworked weapons and my new overall favorite weapon is the reworked katana, the new move set is fluid and clean like the 2h axe but unlike the axe it is also highly flexible and good in both 1v1 and 1vMany situations, this new move set for the katana is such a step up from the old one it makes the weapons that haven't gotten a rework like the maces and 2h swords seem awkward and stilted.



TLDR: 2h axe and punch daggers bad, Katana good.

i like new axe moveset but actually it sucks. light attacks hitbox is pain, it incredibly short and you cant hit with most of light attacks.

katana is just great now, still has its anti body block anime slash. new attacks are fast, horizontal and deadly. great at 1v1, great at groups. also thralls work with katana now.

i didnt like claw thing. it's just fantasy.
