Game Fails to Launch. Pak Error.

I played the game over 800 hrs, so i do not think i am having problems with the system requirement or any other hardware issue.
When i try to launch the game, intro video it gives a fatal error. ''File C:/...blah blah''
''Mounted paks num(61) not equal to paks num(59) and (1).... please verify installation.''
- My game is not installed in C. Idk if its somewhat related.
- I deleted all mod files, unsubbed. Deleted mod list.
- Verified the game several times.
Today, i installed the new patch. Game is still not working and its super frustrating. Same error.
I will be glad if you guys can help.

I have had this issue twice in the last 2 years. The only thing that help was unsubscribing from all mods, deleting the workshop folder, backing up the saved folder followed by uninstalling the game and deleting any leftovers and then performing a clean install.

Verifying didn't help for me either but clean reinstall worked both times.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game four times now, verified the files six times, and STILL with NO MODS DOWNLOADED at ANY point over the time I have played this game I am still getting this same crash issue right at launch. This is beyond frustrating.

I think i MAY be able to help, I have been having your same exact issue and I commented earlier but I may have found a way. Been having fatal errors the past four days and finally may have found a solution.
Go to browse your Conan files in steam from local files or wherever, and DELETE THE WHOLE Conan Sandbox folder. This will be 70-80 gigabytes worth of stuff, but then afterwards go re validate your files and do that whole process normally and you should be able to get back into the game. No need to do a complete reinstall, but rather just a partial one.

Keep in mind, this fixed my issue of getting blocked out of the game for DAYS and not being able to get past the OPENING cut scene, I was trapped and this fixed it right up for me. I hope this helps you!!!

i don't have the error, but since the update, conan can't find a connection to the funcom server. i can't play singelplayer anymore. before the update, everything still worked.

*sigh* Looks like no answer beside Mr Typical. Sadly i can not try your method my friend, with my terrible connection 70-80gigs means several days. Thank you for the comment tho. I wont be playing a game that i own.

testing it rn and will be back soon with an answer, of course for you guys this is less relevant by now but maybe itll help soemone else to find their way back into the exiled lands

Solves the issue for me. Still works. Dont delete the whole ConanSandbox folder.

Im happy to see that this worked for some people, I did it for my buddy too a while back and it ended up working out for him too! Hopefully people keep coming back and finding this thread.

I had the error: ''Mounted paks num(200) not equal to paks num(198) and (0) optional packs not available. Please verify installation".

I unsubscribed from all my mods, deleted (renamed) the modlist file and deleted all the folders located in: steamapps\workshop\content\440900

The 440900 folder is specifically for the Conan workshop mods.

That fixed the problem. I added some mods back and was playing shortly after.

For me, I am pretty sure this error happens because there are MORE .pak files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Content\Paks than there should be. For me, this was because I copied my game files from another computer, because re-downloading 50+GB is hard on my connection.

I was able to solve it by deleting smaller files from this directory and re-verifying with steam to get them to be redownloaded.

On the off chance a developer sees this, you need to be pruning files out of this directory that don't belong, not just downloading the right files. Or only load the assets you need and not everything in this folder. Or, have the error tell us WHICH files don't match! Redownloading an entire game of this size is not easy for everyone.
