Bark

I'm relatively new to the game - is bark still unlocked only at level 60? I stopped playing last year because I kept getting killed at level 24 by packs of hyenas, etc. I like exploration, but it feels like you can't go anywhere without triggering hostile spawns. I thought better armour would solve my problems until I found out that to make anything in the armourer workbench you need leather, which requires a tanning rack, which requires BARK - which for some reason requires level 60!
I started playing again today and made it to level 26, but I can't stand it if I have to grind to level 60 before I can make even medium cuirass :(

No, BARK does not require level 60.

You can harvest bark from most trees by using a pick on them. If you see dead trees or tree stumps, they give even more bark. And yes, better clothes (armor) will help you survive. Running around in the Exiled Lands with grass skivies at Level 24?....yeah, make some armor. and while your at it, make some Iron weapons too.

Oh ok, game devs must've changed it again then. I didn't get any bark last time I tried hitting many dead trees - must've been around 6 months ago. Then I went on forums and found that you couldn't get bark from dead trees anymore

When I find a bunch of dead trees, I never miss the chance to stock up on plenty of bark. Especially, in lieu of the ability of a T4 Alchemist being able to make oil from bark and ichor. I used the pick on a bunch of dead trees a couple of nights ago and it works.

Also, most live trees also give bark, with the exception of some of those small palms. Another way, is to use the Shave Bark recipe on the Carpenter's Bench (any carpenter bench), last I checked, it was a Tier 1 recipe. It converts regular wood into bark. If you have an abundance of branches, you can covert them into wood on the Carpenter bench and then into bark.

Pretty soon you will have bark coming out of your ears.

If you can use the axe-pickel-in-one multi tool you get everytime tree and bark from all trees, makes it very easy and comfortable... im going with my ellephant on one tour and have enough for the next time!

Courage, by killing things you will slowly build up your courage. This gives attack damage bonus to you. Just don't get killed by a NPC, or you lose all courage and have to start over. Not sure, but I was told a sickle gives more bark.

This is a EEWA mod feature.

also there is a mod for it, if you are interested, when you make shaped wood, it will give you bark as a by product. i swear by it

i mean the pickaxe have looked for the english word for it, im playing in german.
