Friendly NPC encounters?
Now I'm new into the game, right, I maybe have around 20 hours of playtime, or so, but so far I've only encountered hostile humans only, regardless of the terrain, whether it's desert or forest.
I'm aware of thralls, and, I infact have one or two right now along with two wolves, and two horses, but.. It would be interesting to have some sort of trading system or a way to make friends instead of having to enslave people to get something out of em'. We have coins, after all, are they only usable between actual players or can you do something out of it? If anything I'd rather use these coins and melt them to make a dagger if they're practically useless. You find them on the people you kill, surely it would imply they're useful for something.

Like, something like this for example:
You're travelling long distances and you feel kind of hungry and your health is kind of low, you have two coins on you and you see a settlement, instead of attacking the people, you approach them and press E (or R, whatever, something like a wave) to show them you're friendly. The NPCs take it into account and you start trading with the people for maybe food and some Aloe bandages, if you hurt/loot anything or if you draw some weapon, however, they'll turn hostile.
Now, some settlements could maybe just want to kill you, still, but that's the gamble. You either get lucky and the people somehow help, or they just kill you.

Wouldn't that be just a little interesting to have ? Just a random thought, I have a grasp on how the game operates and pretty much everything is either hostile or made to be hunted/gathered if I'm not mistaken, haven't seen any of the human NPCs act friendly, not that I'm expecting it to change, I'm just sharing my thoughts. I know that the AI is pretty much the same on every hostile NPC. The way they work right now, is:
They idle, they spot you, they come towards you, and they attack and either kill you or get killed.

The farthest I went to having neutral human NPCs was when I either glitched them into structures or climbed up a small rock/structure so that their pathfinding couldn't get to me and they gave up the chase.

- Edit for TL;DR:
NPCs are just ways to get hide/meat items that kill/get killed. Human NPCs could use something a little more than that like trading. Right now humans are just the same things as regular animals except they give better loot when dying, but they opererate in the same manner as animals.

They do have some use but it's limited. You can also grind them down to make dust which is useful in alchemy.

Well. Yes, there is, I know that fact. But they're not humans, they're merely just ways to get hide/meat. Which is the whole point of this post, to have something else than that.

If you like trading or NPC firendly cities and dialogue options, quests and more, try this:
But we moved to the new isle at the moment. (other server is right now stanby - will be on soon again)
But if you have the dlc it might be right for you:

This is very appreciated, unfortunately I haven't gotten into multiplayer just yet, don't know if I plan to, I was just wondering about the possibility of having such things in singleplayer/co-op with NPCs.

Are you on official or single player? If you are on a single player map I would recommend the River Boats of the Exiled Lands mod. Really adds a lot to the game and nice change from the every NPC is coded to kill you AI.

Some of them just tell you some thing, some are traders, some give you new feats.
