No Purge zone? uhhgg >_>
So after > 100 hours on this map, some fellow player mentioned to me in chat that my base is in a no purge zone, so no point in continuing to build up my thrall defense.

So that's why my clan has never once seen a purge. Well, crap. So what do we do? I'm not really clear on what makes a purge happen other than seeing the bar fill up, but I'm really only spending time at my base to drop off mats and resupply before heading off to other parts of the map. I've got 4 mini-bases set up in other areas. Will one of those eventually get attacked?

What can I do to help increase my chances of seeing a purge so I can get that sweet sweet journey point?

All purges happened to me and my clan since we were offline, so dont be too exited to see a purge happen. Most of the time you wont see the purge itselt, only the results. Wich is really freakin annoying. The purge mechanic is really broken, no matter what the devs say, thralls are worthless regarding defending your base. We dont build anything for weeks and were playing only on weekends, but the purge bar did constantly built up (official server).

Purge works exactly as intended on private and single player games when you tweak the server settings. Official servers need more work on that front though.

Hmm.. thanks for the replies folks.

I think I'll try building a t2 or t3 hut north of the river in a purge zone, then leave my dude there when i'm offline. If i'm lucky, I'll log back on one day to discover I've "survived a purge". If it works, I'll update this thread.

Our first settlement down at the southern river was never purged, but everything that we built north of it has experienced purges. I think it is just the south shore of the river and anything south of it is considered non-purge area.

We have had a number of purges in the tundra zone and just recently had one at our new settlement in the red Frost Giant Zone. A couple of the purges were underwhelming, with attackers spawning on the wrong side of a lake and not pathfinding to the fortification, but some of the other purges were pretty impressive with attacks coming from multiple sides at the same timed and in 4-5 waves. Our thralls were 'on the job' with archers firing from the walls, fighters getting into it with the enemy in front of the gates and a couple of time the enemy broke through some doors, but were stopped cold by the Cimmerian Level III squad before they could get through the courtyard. We also got a chance to pour hot oil down on several 'purgers' who thought they could stand there and bash the door open. That was very gratifying, btw. Those purges were humans that attacked.

The one in the north was a Frost Giant Purge that attacked one of our outposts which was well protected by building against a large rock face. We only had 3 thralls, all Level III and two human players to protect the compound. The thralls fought in front of the wall and we drew off giants to chase us down so the thralls werent outnumbered. In the end we did win the battle, but with some significant damage.

But the thralls in our employ certainly earned their combat pay and do not sit around and stare into space when a purge attack is bearing down on us. There are a few things that we noticed that make the thralls do a little better:

- Use the crenelated walls with the archery slots. These insure that thrall archers fire at the enemy from the walls. Before we used them, the archers were sporadic in their firing.

- Place a certain number of fighter thralls outside the walls at intervals, this way they don't bug out and get confused. Instead of relying on them going out the door, which you have to open for them btw. If they are inside and you open the door, getting them all back inside can be a problem.

-Only place a certain number of thralls inside the walls in case there is a break-in. And be careful, once a Level 4 (Named) or 3 thrall gets rolling with a warhammer, everything that gets hit gets wreaked. We've lost more to friendly fire than to enemies, including chests and crafting tables. Also, you don't want to go anywhere near the thralls when they are fighting or you get hit as well.

-Dont be afraid to lose a thrall, I mean after all it is their job. And they can always be replaced.

I'm playing in pve Official server , I have 8 outpost in 8 differrent area all around the map to get thralls from 8 different place but my main base is in the north highland at "The Great Dam" is middle of my main base.

I played over 700 hours and have a lot of purge attack more than 10 times but the broblem is purge NEVER attack any of my 8 outpost in differrent area , the purge I got are only attack at my main base at the north highland ( sometimes frost giant , animal , naked northeimer ) and they NEVER spawn any named thrall frrom purge , I'm really confusing why....

- I tried to google about them so I found out that every place except Desert Biome are buged that they never spawn any named thrall , is that true ?

- "Our first settlement down at the southern river was never purged" and from wiki "It was mentioned that there would not be any Purges south of the main river" these mean if I dont want to got any purge so I have to build my bese in the south of the main river ( beginner area ).... right ?

https://conanexiles.gamepedia.com/File:Biomes_River_Map.jpg

I don't want to get any purge at my main base because they so anoying to me , I just want purge to attack my outpost for a chance for capturing purge named thrall.

please answer me if you can ,if these thing is true , it mean alot to me

Thralls arent worthless... they just need to vastly outnumber the enemy, lest they take too much damage between waves and die. ^,^

I have my base south of the river in the green tier 1 zone, and I never get any purges... Even when the purge bar is at 100%. Does anyone know why it is like this? Didn't Funcom intend the green tier 1 area to have purges too? (according to that map they released)

Check the wiki for all the areas where a Purge is possible[conanexiles.gamepedia.com]. Otherwise, the Purge is hit or miss right now. The Purge is getting a revamp to adjust and fix multiple things, the latest information on that is here.[forums.funcom.com]

I also ask my friends in the server , Their base is in the south river ( 4i ) ,They also have 2nd base in highland.

They told me that they got purge attacked 3 times , all of them are hyena and they also got all those 3 times attacked at the same place is the base in south river

Their highland base is not even get touched.

Just like me even I have over 8 outposts all around the map but any of them are not even get touched ,All over purge 10 times I got is in my main base at north highland

So purge is now not random ?

This thread is pretty old btw, but yes: purges are broken af and there are areas where they will not happen - see the area south of the green zone in the map multigun posted. On official servers, some players will see their meter reset regularly and never see a purge while others will get them to occasionally happen.

Only purge I've seen in 300 hours included 2 naked unarmed thralls who punched my t3 walls for about 5 minutes before getting killed to the only archer of mine who could see them. This is war people and war is hell. Since then my meter has gotten no higher than 10%.
