And that comes from a person who really loves to start out new, but having this as ending seems kind of disappointing to me.
I understand that we can´t get op weapons or stuff like that, since that wouldn´t be fair in mp, but they could at least award the player with cosmetic stuff like special haircuts, tattoos or weapon and armor skins.
Removing the bracelet is liberating.
Do you hold on to whatever little kingdom you've built - your artifacts, your armor, your thralls - and remain a slave to your possessions? Constantly farming supplies, fighting off purges, dealing with raiders, etc.
Or do you give your character a proper ending and let them leave - embracing a new adventure for yourself (outside of a video game)?
While WoW (and other games) literally hire psychologists to try making their games more addicting - Conan's ultimate ending reminds you that Conan himself was never happy sitting on his throne (or playing video games forever). He walked away from all he had achieved in pursuit of greater ambition.
.
Which is not to say I quit the game. :P
But 1 character reset certainly won't stop a competent player. I've taken off the bracelet and now just play at a chill pace. (And by chill I mean I solo all the content and live inside a god-proof fortress where hotter-than-volcano heat will kill unwelcome guests.)
The only thing removing the bracelet did was obliterate my interest in other games. Asking game devs to design "end game" as a leash to constantly bait you along seems masochistic.
Both.
Obviously it was and still is a great idea. I have played games in the past that allowed you to take your character to the next level with a follow on to the game. I am not sure if this is something they have in the works since I am not privy to that information.
The ending allows you to recreate your character. Normally you only get one character per server.
but for me, i dont want to play a game 'endlessly'. i love conan, and dont get me wrong, im still playing it, but having the ending be to be free from being a slave to the exiled lands, is amazing to me. im the kind of guy who plays any game for the journey i go through, lessons i take from it, and lore's immersive aspects first as corny as that may be for alot of people, and having the ending being a freeing liberation to all the things you have done or own, and your toxic life in general was a psychological treat. i dont see it as wasting all the hours you spent. more-so you fought and did what you had to do in order to free yourselves. you came so far.
it's kind of like experiencing higher consciousness in real life. having to let go of certain things, or move on from what is your comfort zone. as in conan, we play the game and it could be our comfort zone(playing a good game), but through our character(us), we are actually trapped in the exiled lands. our character didnt necessarily conciously choose to be there, and we must move on from our past life or who we once were(the ending).
this is my experience and obviously i simplified most of it but it could be whatever connection you make to your own life.
is a choice to stay once I remove the bracelet rather than walking out only to begin all over again.
