Removing armor and weapon mods.

Since you can't add more than one upgrade to a piece of gear, is there a way to remove an existing upgrade to replace it? If you try and simply add a new one, including an upgraded version of the original, it simply states you cannot add an additional modification.

There is not.

There is probably a mod for that though, maybe check the workshop?

make a new one.

You can also disassemble it

You can make a Prying Kit (Tinker Journey reward recipe) but it will reduce the durability by half when you use it on a modded piece of gear. Probably better just to make a new one.
